LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENDS RADIO LAGOS, EKO FM FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AT BON AWARDS.
Lagos State Government has commended Radio Lagos and Eko FM for emerging top winners at the prestigious Nigeria Broadcasting Awards, organised by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON.
It also applauded the Stations’ determination and doggedness in clinching victories in six different categories.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, gave the commendation while receiving the awards on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, from the management of the organisation, led by the General Manager, Jide Lawal, at Alausa, Ikeja.
Omotosho described the awards as testament to the organisation’s commitment to broadcasting excellence, noting that it also shows the Stations’ efforts are not in vein.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Lanre Bajulaiye, urged the Stations to do More, sustain the good works, and continue to make Lagos proud.
Bajulaiye appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu, for his unwavering support to the Stations and urged ministries and other agencies to patronise Radio Lagos/EkoFM.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Stations, Jide Lawal, lauded the Governor for his vision, leadership and consistent support which enabled the Stations to excel.
Dedicating the awards to Governor Sanwo-Olu, Lawal also appreciated the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary for their encouragement, stressing that the awards will motivate him and his team to work harder to sustain the Stations’ well-known standards of excellence and professionalism.

LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES 150KVA SOLAR POWER SYSTEM TO PROVIDE CLEAN, RELIABLE ENERGY TO RADIO LAGOS/EKO FM.
The Lagos State Government has commissioned a new 150KVA outdoor solar power system to deliver clean, stable electricity to Radio Lagos and Eko FM stations, advancing sustainable public infrastructure.
Speaking at the project’s launch on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, described it as transformative, noting that it was designed to enhance access to clean, reliable, and sustainable energy at the station while reducing the electricity burden.
According to Omotosho, ''the project marks a significant stride toward the state government’s goal of developing smarter, more sustainable infrastructure''.
He urged the organisation to maximise the use of the solar power system to bridge the electricity gap, with a strong focus on accelerating Nigeria’s transition to clean energy.
Also, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Abiodun Ogunleye, said the project would deliver clean, stable electricity for critical security and communication systems, while ensuring high service standards are maintained.
The General Manager of Radio Lagos and Eko FM, Jide Lawal, stated that with the installation of the state-of-the-art solar power system, the station was stepping into a new era of energy independence, sustainability, and uninterrupted service to its valued listeners.
Lawal said the solar power project goes beyond panels and batteries, describing it as a bold commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and excellence in broadcasting.
He noted that Radio Lagos/Eko FM would now run on clean, renewable energy, reducing its carbon footprint, cutting operational costs, and ensuring that life-changing programmes reach listeners without any interruption.
According to Lawal ''To our staff, let me say that this solar system is your victory too. It means we can focus even more on what we do best, serving our listeners with passion and professionalism and publicizing and disseminating the activities, policies and programmes of the State Government''.
