Throw back to almost 2 months ago, I snuck The Problem into the set list for our @ecmaofficial showcase out in St Johns. I knew I wanted the end to be big so I told the band to just go for it and we’d stop when we were ready and I have absolutely zero regrets. Big shout out to @uncleflood (guitar) and @andrew.core (drums) who both also play on the recording, and of course to @just_kyashi as always for holding it down on the harmonies and bass. Apologies for the potato quality, this was literally shot on my phone from the corner of the stage 🤷🏼‍♀️ Song is out June 27th (TOMORROW!) links where you’d expect them ♥️

Workin on the new track before we head to the ECMAs this week. Feels so good to be playing with a band again after being so burnt out on playing live these last few months. There’s really nothing like making music with other people, especially when they’re also just rad pals 😌

This morning, @artofthefite and I welcomed our first full length record into the world. Four and a half years ago, I wasn’t sure I’d ever sling a guitar around my neck and step on a stage again. And this morning, I’m drinking coffee in Chicago after kicking off an American tour with my best friend in the world, sending Hard Feelings, Soft Promises out into the internet ether. - We are so thankful to have the love we put into these songs reflected back at us on stage every night. Ironically, we’re dropping the day after World Mental Health Day. Art always says our songs are like a little reminder to schedule your next therapy appointment. We’re very grateful to have this outlet for our own mental health. - We’re also very lucky to get to do what we do with the greatest folks in the world. It takes a village! - Enormous thanks to @future.dad.music the very first person who saw the PF potential and encouraged us to make it a thing. He guided and supported the heart and sound of this record as I found my producer voice over the last year. - No one plays drums like @beardyholly and we appreciate him immensely for sharing his skills on the kit with us. - Thank you to @palmerjamieson as well for capturing Pat’s performances @goldenpalmstudio - @blue.acres.music came in clutch when we needed to find the soul of Camera Roll and helped me find the gorgeous guitar sounds that form the centrepiece of that tune. - @parachutemastering is the final dazzle on top of the @pillow.fite cake. Thank you so much for your expertise and patience, making the final product exactly how we need it. - @quietcanary.hfx @studio2o4 and @redheadhooks came together in a big way to make us look sooooo super cool in the graphics. - @lhmrecords has always got our back and lets us focus on the making while he steers us so deftly thru the perilous catacombs of our very weird industry. - I’m just happy to be a boy who gets to play his guitar with and for other folks. So excited to share this tune. Art brought me the sweetest love song about the sweetest person, and I was like ‘well, obviously we rip off August and Everything After by the Counting Crows for this.’ Also, I can’t help myself from slipping a big ass guitar riff in the middle. Dunno why the 90’s crept into everything I’ve made over the past year, but it’s in my DNA and unconscious, I guess. Then Future Daddy just enables it with his stellar mixes. This was the first set of drums we tracked with Pat and Palmer for our upcoming record. Big thanks to John at Parachute for putting the final touches on it. Hope y’all dig it. And we can’t wait to show you the whole record in October.

Puppy serenades before the big swiftie weekend.

I feel like @artofthefite and I went back in time on this one. Back when there was a cap on how many friends you could have over. We’d have to test ourselves for illness before we could make music in the same room. It was such a hard time for so many of us, and we were constantly writing these sweet little acoustic ditties, trying stave off the cabin fever, anxiety and depression. Lifting each other’s spirits with a new chorus or a cool beat or catchy chord progression. @pillow.fite and quarantine are inextricably linked, as much as we’d all like to forget that awful time. But it was our Hamburg. Our 10,000 hours. We started from the emotional bottom, now we’re here. We all had to focus on the moments Art sings about in these lyrics to keep us going. I tried to make this production as big as possible to combat the claustrophobia that brought it about. And capture the dreamy haze only a hopeless romantic Pisces could deliver in such a setting. Hope you enjoy! This little angel finally slowed down enough to get a decent pic. She’s healthy and happy. She prefers when a toy is on a string at the end of stick, does everything her big brother does, even if she doesn’t know why, and wakes us up every morning, jumping like a baby goat all over the bed, begging for breakfast.
