October was packed with haunts and sweet treats, from Halloween costume making to launching my first choose your own adventure and filming my first short film, The Obituary. Thank you to old and new friends of the Ossuary for making this a special Halloween. The season may be over, but November’s stories are already taking shape. Stay tuned.

With lots of aluminum foil, electrical tape, liquid latex, and patience, I made a facehugger mask. I love being consumed by art, whether it’s writing or crafting. It keeps me grounded and present. It’s also terrifying to start with a blank page, or in this case, a mask. Not knowing how it will turn out until the very end is a humbling process. Sometimes, you surprise yourself.

As a horror-loving screenwriter, I spent years chasing greenlights, writing scripts, submitting to contests, and shaping ideas while waiting. Waiting to place. To hear back from the void. For someone to tell me my stories were good enough. Valid. Ready.
But dread doesn’t wait.
It simmers, quiet and shapeless, buried beneath everything. In sleepless nights. In long commutes. In polite smiles and forced small talk. Most of us carry it alone, a pit in the stomach or an aching lump in the throat.
Enter The Ossuary Fragments.
A place where dread is allowed to fester, take form, and speak without apology. Where buried things are unearthed. I build a language for it through horror vignettes packed with punch. From the moment before a zombie starts to turn to the slow encroachment of isolation, I tap into fear that lingers and builds.
These aren’t jump scares. These are stories built from soft panic. If you’ve ever felt like something was wrong but couldn’t name it… If you’ve ever put on a smile while something cracked beneath the surface…
You’re not alone.
I write these fragments from my marrow, not the margins.
On my terms.
For us.

12 years ago @shortribs85@wehavenomouth and I drove cross country (in the car I still have today) to the west coast. There's something really special about reuniting with someone who knew you before it all and after all this time. The people who helped me transition into another phase of my life. Now, it's such a joy to see you in this new phase of your lives and to meet and see your beautiful little families. You'll always have a special place in my heart, and you mean more to me than you know. Hopefully it won't be another 12 years before we meet again. 🥹🥰😘 Talk soon. (@wehavenomouth not pictured but there in spirit.)
In this moment, I'm feeling gratitude that I can lean on my writing peers. Thank you to the multi-talented, prolific, and hilarious @mark_distefano for giving me that push to write the idea I've been obsessing over but wasn't really sure about.
After turning Subhuman into a series, I'm excited to go back to my roots of feature writing. Posthumous is an allegory for the cyclical toxic negativity our society perpetuates and feeds off of. How we struggle to break this curse and often become our own worst enemy and harshest critic. How we can be so unkind to ourselves and apologize for our mere existence and humanity. About a woman who has to learn to love herself before it's too late.
In this turmoil of uncertainty and with these quiet months ahead, I'm looking forward to curling up in my corner of the world to just...
write.
