💬 President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy: “I know that Ukrainians believe in their state, that we are united. And in every future format of meetings, discussions, negotiations with partners, it will be far easier for me to secure a dignified peace for us and to persuade them, knowing with absolute certainty: the people of Ukraine stand behind me. Millions of our people, people of dignity, people fighting for freedom, and those who have earned peace.
All our fallen heroes, who gave their lives for Ukraine, who are now in heaven, and deserve to see from above that their children and grandchildren will live in a dignified peace. And that peace will come. Dignified, effective, long-lasting.”
On this day, three years ago, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, Ukrainians have been fighting not just for their sovereignty and land, but for freedom, justice, and the security of the whole of Europe.
Lately, the world has been flooded with news about Ukraine again. Discussions on how Russia’s war against Ukraine will end and what conditions might bring long-awaited peace dominate the headlines. But too often, these conversations lack the most important element — the sovereign and powerful voice of Ukrainians.
The voices of those who defend Ukraine every single day.
The voices of those who clear the rubble after missile strikes, heal the wounded, teach children, and donate their income to support the army.
The voices of those who give their lives to stop the war from spreading further.
Who better than Ukrainians today can understand what just peace truly means?
🛑 Just peace is not a ceasefire that allows the aggressor to recover, regroup and strike again.
⚖️ Just peace means accountability for war criminals, not appeasement.
🗣️ Just peace means listening to those who pay the highest price possible for it every day.
We did not start this war. But together, we can end it on the terms of a just and lasting peace — one that ensures sovereignty, freedom, and security for Ukraine, Europe and the world.

Ukraine first joined Eurovision in 2003, and ever since, we have shared in the joy and spirit of the event. Over the years, Ukraine has qualified for the Grand Final with each entry, won Eurovision three times, hosted the competition in Kyiv twice, and introduced unforgettable artists with powerful stories and music.
As Eurovision 2026 approaches the Grand Final in Vienna, we are embracing not only music but also the many things we share across Europe – creativity, solidarity, and connection.

Flowers and toys outside the destroyed apartment building in Kyiv, where a Russian missile strike killed 24 people, including 3 children.
Among those killed were 12-year-old Liubava, 15-year-old Mariia, and 17-year-old Vira. Mariia had just finished the 9th grade. Liubava and Vira were the daughters of a Ukrainian volunteer fighter who was killed in combat in 2023.
Search and rescue operations lasted for more than 28 hours. Rescuers pulled 30 people alive from beneath the rubble. Dozens more were injured.
Today, Kyiv is observing a Day of Mourning. People continue to bring flowers, candles, and children’s toys to the site of the attack in memory of those whose lives were taken by Russia’s terror.

After 1,494 days in Russian captivity, a Ukrainian defender is finally back home.
Tomorrow is his mother’s birthday. For years, she waited for the moment she could see and hug her son again – and now, he will finally be home for her birthday.
Ukrainian defenders released from Russian captivity are calling their families, crying with happiness, and asking to share one message with everyone still waiting for their loved ones:
"Don’t worry. They are holding on. They are strong. They are not giving up."
Ukraine continues fighting to bring every Ukrainian home 🇺🇦
🇺🇦 205 Ukrainians have returned home from Russian captivity as part of the first stage of the 1000-for-1000 prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia.
Among those released are soldiers, sergeants, and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service. Many of them had been held captive since 2022.
They defended Ukraine in Mariupol and at Azovstal, as well as in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kyiv regions, and at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Ukraine continues working to bring back every Ukrainian still held in Russian captivity.
Kyiv is observing a Day of Mourning after Russia’s mass attack on the Ukrainian capital on 14 May.
At least 24 people were killed, including three children. Another 48 people were injured. Search and rescue operations lasted for over 28 hours.
The world must not stay silent while Russia continues to terrorise Ukrainian civilians. Pressure, international isolation and sanctions against Russia must be increased.
Eternal memory to the victims 🕯️

A mother comforts her baby in an underground car park during Russia’s overnight attack on Ukraine.
Russia’s attack killed at least 9 people, including a child born in 2013. Dozens were injured. Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble of a destroyed residential building in Kyiv.
No child should grow up knowing nights like this. Russia’s terror against civilians must not become normalised.
