Thank you to @firstent for their support and sponsorship of the 10th Annual UCLA Extension Film Festival. @MeyoungSpektor , Senior Director of Growth and Partnerships introduced our incredible panel on Trends in Independent Film Financing at our Bruin Collaborative in the heart of Downtown LA. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
This past weekend, UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture students came together at UCLA Downtown for a full-day design charrette focused on reimagining Spring Street Park. From early morning site visits to an afternoon design sprint, five teams collaborated with industry professionals, stakeholders and community partners to develop thoughtful, forward-looking proposals.
Grounded in goals of biodiversity, accessibility, and urban connection, each team translated ideas into site plans, diagrams, and visual concepts that reflect the future of inclusive public space design. The day concluded with final presentations that showcased both creative vision and real-world application.
This is what happens when design meets purpose and community drives the process.
A special thank you to @cd14losangeles@historiccore@downtown_la for their continued collaboration and support.

Growing up in Mexico City, Dulce Gallardo was surrounded by everything she loved. Her friends, family and work were all in one place. She was comfortable. Life was good.
But something still tugged at Gallardo’s heart, and at age 30, she made the hard decision to leave home and search for a greater purpose. Along the way, she graduated with a Sustainability Certificate from UCLA Extension, gaining knowledge she still uses today.

The Los Angeles Theatre was the last and most extravagant of the ornate movie palaces built on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles between 1911 and 1931. Designed by architect S. Charles Lee with a French Baroque-inspired décor, its majestic six-story main lobby and 2,200-seat auditorium of carved plaster ornamentation, mirrors, and cove-lit murals recall the glamorous days of 1930s Hollywood.
This Saturday you can visit this gorgeous theater for the @uclaextension Film Festival!

Now home to UCLA Extension Downtown, the Trust Building was built nearly a century ago.
Check out the fascinating history of this stunning Art Deco building. Did you know it was once the headquarters of the Title Insurance and Trust Company? On June 14, 1928, they opened their doors, featuring a recreation room, cafeteria, medical facilities, and a 250-seat auditorium for employees. The executive offices were located on the 10th floor. The building's massive size earned it the nickname 'Queen of Spring Street.'

What new ideas are born when artists and educators collaborate? 🎨💥📚
At the inaugural RE:DESIGN // RE:IMAGINE summit, #UCLAx brought together bold thinkers across creative and academic fields to challenge perspectives and build a community, grounded in exploration. 🌏
More than 60 designers, artists, students, educators and creative leaders gathered at UCLA Downtown, sitting at communal tables ready to tackle what the future holds for arts and education – specifically at the intersection of the two – for the inaugural RE:DESIGN // RE:IMAGINE Summit.
“We did not ask you for your affiliation or other identifying information because we want you all to truly be in community with each other – to talk to each other and learn about who else is in this room,” said Kimberly Velazco, director of the Design Arts portfolio at UCLA Extension. “This will be a full day of good conversation and good company.”
