Meet Ammara Yasin, a first-year PhD student from the SafeNetIoT team.
Ammara’s research combines technical analysis with a critical sociopolitical lens, looking into the broader socio-technical, security and policy implications of Internet of Things (IoT) backend platforms.
Her work is truly interdisciplinary, with her Master’s thesis enquiring how embedded SIM cards (eSIMs) have emerged as a method to circumvent network shutdowns in adversarial contexts.
She was also recently awarded the @internetsociety Early Career Fellowship, championing her as an advocate for an ethical, open and inclusive Internet for all.
