Davis Baja Racing @davisbajaracing is rebuilding its identity as a student team after being disbanded during the pandemic and brought back to life in 2024 by a small group of determined Aggie Engineers. 🏁
Today, the team is fully up and running, with 35 members building an off-road vehicle that competed in Baja SAE Oregon this past weekend. For a team that was nearly gone just two years ago, making it back to competition is a major milestone.

In true Star Wars spirit, Owen Bosley, one of our Master of Engineering in Medical Device Development students, took a lesson on subtractive manufacturing to a galaxy far, far away. As part of a class assignment, Bosley manufactured parts for a TIE Interceptor.
When he’s not building starfighters, Bosley also works at the UC Davis Tech Foundry.

Environmental research has never been more critical. The sustainability and resilience of our buildings, bridges, and trains is not by some miracle, it is through energy and environment research that our cities infrastructure stands strong.
Dr. Jason DeJong is a professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and the director for the UC Davis Center of Geotechnical Modeling, a world-class geotechnical modeling facility. His research creates civil infrastructure innovations that keep our cities functioning under increasing pressures of climate change and urbanization.
Federal funding breathes life into studies that ensure our cities function safely. Dr. DeJong is already on a reduced funding scheme which limits the size of his team and the research projects that can use resources provided by UC Davis modeling facilities. Proposals from our researchers and researchers across the country that want to use our facilities are on hold due to funding uncertainty.
