tbd by Marie-Caroline Hominal, Viktor Korol and Johannes Willi @mch333555777999 @vk12355789 @johannes_willi @multisoftkonstanz ... Lots of plastic. Things happening at the same time and nobody knows why or where to look. An imposing scenography, lots of smoke — then nothing matters anymore — plus in the middle a glowing cross, hanging crookedly. You could call it disconnected silly performance nonsense, if you wanted to be mean. You could ask what it was, what you’d just seen. The aesthetics very nostalgic too. Berlin in the 80s. I don’t know much, but kind of. have a look at @ooo._.place for the full text of Pauline Schröer @schnucki_47 about the performances of üüü

Wortfunken by Téné Ouelgo @welgo_tene ... what I really enjoy is that moment where the rehearsed and the improvised blur together. It’s not like when several people are on stage and you notice if one makes a mistake and the others have to react — which can also be exciting. Alone on stage, it’s a different situation. You carry full responsibility for whatever happens. I imagine you might actually have more control that way. For the audience, it doesn’t matter what’s improvised and what isn’t. In both cases it was clear: Don’t lie to your master, don’t lie to yourself — it could cost you your head, or your mind. what’s a mob to a king – Liina Magnea @mmaaggnneeaa … In the middle, I saw this video where the same actress moves through a hotel. And all those real estate phone calls circled back to that container, presented like a castle. In the video it turns out the castle is also a hotel. So this whole thing of selling something as something else. Silence as tolerance… I don’t even remember the exact pairings anymore, but it was such a nice metaphor that got you thinking: that you can sell anything as something else and make use of it, that this is done all the time. In Order to Dance Baby Dance by Johann Eggebrecht & Noah Rees @johannramon @noahre90 … Jakob called it the Post-Post-Postmodern in dance. I don’t know enough about theater and dance to say what that really means. There was very little music, more like the sounds of shoes and moaning. Basically vocal language used to locate oneself. And only two release moments – or for the spectator two moments – where it was like… finally letting go, a choreography happening with music. You can see it, the beautiful movement of bodies. And then again, dropped back into the rawness of improvisation. check out @ooo._.place for the full text of Pauline Schröer @schnucki_47 about day 4 of üben-week xx üüü

Corpus Iuris Artis by Selin Davasse @radicalized_faghag … And suddenly you get the feeling: wow, this could be a fair trial. And I mean, those were exactly the questions being negotiated: what came first? The individual or the system, the group? Who makes the rules? Where do you start if you want change – with the individual or with the larger whole? And all of this presented in a very sassy, hot lawyer-language, which in its concreteness and exactness and formality did transmit some emotion, but still: at certain points you feel like you can follow and you’re addressed, part of the process, actually as a member of the cultural field – and at the same time you lose yourself in the juridical-systemic speech. check out @ooo._.place for the full text of Pauline Schröer @schnucki_47 about day 4 of üben-week xx üüü

Mun Sing [live] at üben üben üben! @mun_sing … And yeah, it was a nice kickoff for the vibe-change due on a Wednesday. After that videos the curtain was pulled and then... the bass vibrated so much, not just the tartan floor bouncing... what, how silly. Anyway, my beer was vibrating. At my ear or my mouth, the whole bottle felt the bass. That was funny. You really imagine it traveling through every single organ when you’re standing in front of such a massive system. A bit spooky too. Read Pauli’s @schnucki_47 take on Wednesday at the übenübenüben week @ooo._.place

Cotton Candy by Raphael Loosli @amnesty_intl … It was kind of a beautiful video. Filmed off the screen, with constant optical distortions. You could see people cleaning up, balloons popping, the perspective from above into the belly of the church. At the same time, organ fragments kept coming through. But unlike before, you were kind of... or strongly encouraged to just walk around, chat, basically use the bar and the space normally. Which of course meant: walking around, standing outside, smoking. So I didn’t actually see everything there was to see. Not in full length. But I like that. I like it when it’s unforced. I don’t feel under pressure. Attention spent at one’s own discretion. Not exactly “observing” a performance, more like moving through a space that’s been shaped by a gesture. Join Pauline Schröers @schnucki_47 recording walk about Wednesday night of übenübenüben @ooo._.place still thinking back to this fantastic week!

Rebeca by Ricardo Ariel Toribio @ricardoatoribio … That piece was definitely a highlight. Maybe even of the whole week, though we’ll see. Somehow just really wonderful. He’s here the whole week, joins the evening school, and is having fun. The video was colorful and warm, and it was kind of a portrait of the carnival there in Santo Domingo. And the people were just so excited, and he was dressed up as a devil, asking people these really simple questions. But the people, they carried the whole video with their vibe. It was honestly kind of magical to watch. And also, as a premiere. Like, hard to top that kind of heart-warmth. Gesamtkunstweltgewicht by Riccardo Lisi @rick_in_the_arts … Pauli tries to record real quick before the thunderstorm hits, what happened last night at ÜbenÜbenÜben. So, today was actually pretty nice weather, but now, the moment I decided to go on today’s walk, Day 2, the thunder is rumbling properly over Basel. Now I just hope I’ll stay dry while I’m speaking, otherwise this text might just end up a bit shorter. I always stick the headphones into the recorder. Even though I can’t really speak into them… I still have to talk into the device itself, but somehow I feel better doing it this way. I probably just look like I’m on the phone or something. So, what happened last night? Read Pauline Schröers @schnucki_47 full recording about day 2 of übenübenüben @ooo._.place big thank you you to all the artists!

Surge of Heat by Margaux Fievet @margaux.fievet … We talked about our own body, how it becomes visible somehow in the performance. Or in watching others perform. And then there is always this break at the end, after the choreography, after the performance, where suddenly you see the person and not the performer – before you were the center of attention and did your thing, and as soon as the plan is over, the presented thing, then I think many people aren’t really so… don’t feel so comfortable suddenly standing in the middle anymore. And that is somehow such a warm moment to watch. Yesterday I somehow liked that moment very much. To see how the body and also the face and everything was so concentrated in the performance and with such incredible body tension and body control. And you could really literally see how it fell off her at the end. Like such a very intimate, authentic moment.
