I am beyond honored and proud that the team behind “The Drama” @thedrama opens @zendaya and Robert Pattinson chose the Tatte Copley space and my design work as the set for the movie “The Drama” opening next month!
This space has forced me to uncover new layers of creativity, knowledge and possibilities. It forced me to dream and dare even more.
It’s big, airy and bright but warm and welcoming. Some design elements are different than other Tattes to capture and highlight the grand space but when you walk in, you know {and feel} you are at Tatte.
Zendaya has been a long-time fan of Tatte, previously enjoying it with partner Tom Holland and on another occasion enjoying shakshuka on the patio at Tatte Beacon Hill!

אני אדם מאוד פרטי שמאוד אוהב להתרכז בעשייה וביצירה ופחות בדיבורים עליה ולכן עד היום שמרתי את זה בעיקר לעצמי.
הקמתי את טאטה מתוך צורך לשרוד בארץ אחרת, והצורך לבנות בית וחיים במקום חדש. הדרייב שלי היה בנייה של משהו שיגרום לי להרגיש שייכות, שייתן משמעות ברורה ליום יום, רציתי להיות חלק ממשהו משמעותי שיתן לי תחושת ביטחון ושקט.
הדרך היתה ארוכה, קשה מנשוא, האחריות העצומה, הידיעה שיש רק דרך אחת להקים משהו שיהיה משמעותי וישאר הרבה זמן אחריי היתה המטרה והדרך להגיע לשם דרשה הקרבות גדולות ואינסוף תעצומות נפש.
ההסתכלות קדימה תמיד לוותה בראייה לאחור על הדרך שעשינו, בלמידה מהעבר וריכוז במטרה קדימה, בלי פשרות, בלי קיצורי דרך, ותמיד לעשות את הדבר הנכון. להיות עם האינטגריטי הכי גבוה ולקבל את ההחלטה הכי נכונה לנו לטווח הרחוק. לא להתרגש ולקבל החלטות אמוציונאליות, להמשיך קדימה. לא להסתנוור מהצעות כספיות עצומות שיהפכו אותי לעשירה אבל את העסק והאנשים שלי לעניים, ולהגיד בעיקר לא ולהמשיך בדרך שלי שתביא אותי ואת כל הצוות למקום נכון ובטוח. ובעיקר, שנוכל להסתכל בראייה לאחור ולהיות גאים בדרכנו. זה לקח שנים, זה היה גריינד מטורף אבל זה הצליח.
טאטה היא מקום קסום שנותן בית ומקום עבודה לגדול בו לאלפי אנשים ולמיליוני לקוחות לחוות חוויה חמה ונעימה, זה בית. יש לנו עוד המון עבודה לפנינו ליצור עוד ועוד אבל הדרך ברורה ונעימה יותר.
החלום שנשאר לי היום הוא להיות יותר בבית בישראל, לקנות בית בישראל (שעוד אין לי), לדבר יותר עברית ביום יום שלי ולהנות יותר מזמן בארץ הקסומה ממנה באתי.

Funny story: When I designed this floor pattern, I couldn’t find the right maroon tile color for the center tile and after endless search we brought it from Canada only to absolutely hate it and end up placing a Dijon colored tile in each center by hand. It worked! 🫠🙏 #worthit

Today I said goodbye to two huge talent who joined our team at Tatte almost 7 years ago. Together we opened the first Tatte in DC.
Together, with many talented people we made it happen, day and night, putting heart, soul, and endless work into building the DC market and our first bakery production space in DC.
Anthony and Lauren, I am cheering you all the way to your new home and forever grateful for the enormous contribution you both had at Tatte. What an amazing (and insane) journey we had!

Tatte West End. The first DC location.
It was challenging but fun space to design, as we opened, our bakery was first in the back where you could see our incredible team baking and cooking in the back. That dance between guests and team is interesting to design but if successfully done, it’s quite magical.

Cinnamon rolls.
You can make a long roll and cut through it with a knife or if you have a bit more time (and you like it to look super neat), you can roll the dough, spread the cinnamon mix, cut to long strips to the width you like (I base it on the pan I’ll be using) and roll each one separately. It’s a task I find very satisfying.
You can use chocolate, pistachio paste, halva or make it savory with pesto, tomatoes, eggplant, or cheese.
