From childhood weekends at Tzu Chi Academy to becoming a certified Tzu Chi volunteer in 2026, Amber Lee’s journey is a powerful reflection of how compassion and service can shape a lifetime. 💙 Raised alongside Tzu Chi volunteers who became like family, Amber grew up learning the values of gratitude, environmental responsibility, and caring for others through action. Years later, after helping survivors of the Southern California wildfires, those experiences inspired her to pursue a career in law so she could continue supporting communities in need. Her story, shared alongside her mother, Huichun Lin, beautifully shows how Great Love can grow across generations, guiding both parent and child along the same path of service. 📖 Read the full story and discover more from our #TzuChiUSAJournal with our bio’s Linktree: https://journal.tzuchi.us/article/80/tzu-chi-academy-alumni-stories-amber-lee/ #TzuChiUSA #CompassionInAction #VolunteerJourney #HumanisticEducation #GreatLove #CommunityService

The 12th Symposium on the Role of Religion and Faith-Based Organizations in International Affairs wrapped earlier this month on May 5. Bringing together faith leaders, youth, Indigenous representatives, and civil society, the symposium explored how dignity, compassion, and equality can move beyond dialogue and into meaningful grassroots action. A recurring message throughout the discussions: strengthening multilateralism starts with people. It requires investing in relationships, inclusion, participation, and representation to ensure that no one is left behind. Together, we continue building a more compassionate and accountable global community. @umcjustice_gbcs @multiculturalcooperation @islamicreliefusa @jtsvoice @sgiusa @lutheranworldfederation @uriglobal @worldcouncilofchurches #GlobalCommunity #CompassionInAction #FaithBasedOrganizations #YouthLeadership #TzuChi

In late March 2026, Oahu, Hawaii, experienced the worst flooding in two decades due to successive “Kona storms.” The possibility of the Wahiawa Dam breaching forced thousands of residents to evacuate. Although the dam ultimately did not fail, record-breaking extreme rainfall caused vehicles, roads, and homes to be swept away. On May 14, 2026, Tzu Chi USA donated 2000 DA.AI Technology eco-blankets to the @americanredcross for use in Hawaii flood relief efforts. This follows a visit by representatives from the American Red Cross in March to Taiwan to meet Dharma Master Cheng Yen where they toured the manufacturing facilities for Tzu Chi’s Jing Si Furniture System and other relief items. There, the representatives expressed their willingness to deepen cooperation between our organizations in disaster relief efforts. Tzu Chi USA will continue to work with partners such as the American Red Cross to combine humanitarian aid with environmentally-friendly technology, striving together toward relief and sustainability efforts. #TzuChiUSA #AmericanRedCross #DisasterRelief #HawaiiFloods

In the wake of the devastating tornadoes that struck Michigan, Tzu Chi USA Midwest Region volunteers crossed state lines to bring relief, comfort, and hope to affected families. 💙 The tornadoes claimed lives, injured dozens, and destroyed homes across the community. In response, 23 volunteers from Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, and surrounding areas came together with the American Red Cross (@americanredcross ) to support survivors through a heartfelt relief distribution event. With sincerity and compassion, volunteers provided: 🤝 Cash cards for immediate assistance 🧣 Eco-friendly blankets and Jing Si products 🎋 Bamboo banks to inspire kindness and giving 💛 Emotional support through listening, prayer, and companionship One touching moment came when two children, themselves disaster survivors, placed donations into a bamboo bank before leaving, transforming from recipients of aid into givers of love. Another mother shared that her daughter, who had emotionally withdrawn after the tornadoes, smiled again for the first time during the event. In total, 34 families and 106 survivors received support. Though the tornadoes destroyed homes, they also revealed the strength of compassion, unity, and humanity. Together with local partners and communities, Tzu Chi continues to bring hope where it is needed most. #TzuChiUSA #DisasterRelief #MichiganTornado #CommunitySupport

🌿 “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” 🌿 This week’s #WednesdayWisdom was shared by Arthur Chih from our Northwest Region. Chih became a volunteer after his son attended a Tzu Chi Academy, and now actively participates in services such as the Happy Campus program and hot meal distributions. He is also responsible for reviewing distribution data following disaster relief efforts. “Because of Tzu Chi, I’ve met many more people, and my perspective on life has completely broadened,” Chih shared. “Many things are difficult to accomplish alone, but in Tzu Chi, a group of people can make things happen together. There are many things in society that we cannot change individually, but in Tzu Chi, as long as we call out to one another, everyone can come together and take action.” Chih’s favorite aphorism reminds us that solidarity breeds strength, and more can be achieved through group effort. ✨ What Jing Si Aphorism inspires you? Share yours to be featured in an upcoming Wednesday Wisdom! 👉 Learn more at our bio’s Linktree or visit the link: 👉 https://tzuchi.us/volunteer-social-media-submission #TzuChiUSA #JingSiAphorisms #Volunteer #Buddhism #ArthurChih

On May 9, in conjunction with Tzu Chi’s 60th anniversary and Buddha Day celebrations, Panda Restaurant Group (@officialpandaexpress ) donated a specially designed food truck to Tzu Chi USA, expanding our ability to provide hot meals during future disaster relief efforts. Capable of serving up to 2,000 people with enough volunteers, the “Kindness In Motion” food truck is equipped to meet urgent food needs in times of crisis. This meaningful collaboration began years ago after a Panda Express executive attended a Tzu Chi Entrepreneurs’ Camp in Hualien in 2013 and was deeply inspired by Tzu Chi’s humanitarian mission. Since then, Panda Express and Tzu Chi have worked together to bring warm meals and care to communities affected by disasters. During the ceremony, Panda Express representative Tina Hsing symbolically handed the keys to Tzu Chi USA CEO Debbie Lee, marking the next chapter of a partnership rooted in compassion, service, and hope. 🪷 #TzuChi60 #BuddhaDay #PandaExpress #DisasterRelief #CompassionInAction #CommunitySupport
