Aksan by Yaprak Buse ĂaÄlar
âA recent tradition to contemporary creationâ
Aksan is a multifaceted font family that reflects the transformation of writing and the evolution of typography. Named after diacritic signs, Aksan is designed to cover many languages that use the Latin alphabet. Inspired by the Letter Revolution in Turkey, this typeface family combines strong visual references of the past with todayâs design sensibility for a character that is both nostalgic and modern; creating a contemporary take on Turkish typographic identity.
Aksanâs design process is inspired by the signs, posters, and printed materials used during the transition to the Latin-based Turkish Alphabet in Turkey; it consists of different styles that appeal to a wide range of usage scenarios. The strong, bold, and angular letterforms seen in the typography of that period are revitalized in Aksanâs display style. It also includes a script style that pays homage to the handwriting culture of the past with a tweek of different slant. The sans-serif-based text family, which prioritizes ease of reading with a touch of horizontal emphasis, offers flexibility with regular and reverse italic options, creating a balanced typographic experience for long texts.
đŹđ· Designed by a naive who understands the nuances. Meet the minds behind Gregoryâs Greek:
đ€ Much love to George Triantafyllakos @gtriant : The Thessaloniki-based designer created the Greek letters of Gregory Text.
đ€ And kudos to Turkish designer Yaprak Buse @typolea for helping out on Greek Italics while studying at EsadType in France.

Did you know that we had a Baskerville Workshop with Small Performances? It was an amazing and intensive study about the Baskerville punches, and creating a design from them.
Me, @myrthevanrompaey@nz_mz_ and @tanguysousroche worked on the Two-line English, which is roughly around 28 point sizes.
Thank you for this incredible opportunity dear Riccardo and Michele, and canât wait to see the outcome next year in London!
As you know, Quature has a special place in my heart and of course my type journeyđ
In EsadType, first couple of months were learning about the history of type design and constantly looking through many specimens which one of them was âAlbum dâApplications des Nouvelles Creations Françaises de la Fonderie G. Peignot & Filsâ.
As I was looking through my Eagle app, I decided on recreating this wonderful layout with Quature.
