21 years ago tonight. I used to describe those early Steel Train shows (especially the ones here at Kilby) as church, a religious experience. Packed in tight as sardines (hence my singular shooting spot dead center) and all knowing we were experiencing something special. I'm happy to have photos from these times and especially happy to have the little clip of the end of Better Love, a favorite off their then-brand new debut full-length Twilight Tales From The Prairies Of The Sun. These nights at Kilby, seeing Steel Train and so many others are memories held so fondly.

Funny how I can so clearly remember the day leading up to this show, driving the back roads from Pocatello to Boise due to delays on the 84 hoping to make showtime, 17 years later. I remember stopping to gas up at a countryside 2 pump station and having enough service to get a text from Walla to confirm I'd be shooting their set that night. My first time working a show at the Morrison Center, I completely missed Cold War Kids but was thankful to make it for the entire Death Cab set made up of an awesome mix of songs from Narrow Stairs and earlier albums (even got some songs from the Open Door EP). Such an incredible night when earlier that day, I wasn't even sure how it would end. 17 years later, I'm grateful for the outcome.

The start of wonderful weekend with @limbeckband@phantomplanet & @theformat
I hadn't seen @robbmaclean@patrickisrad & @joncheese.mckesten in over 10 years and while we've each achieved so much since the last time, it was so comfortable and easy to feel as if we'd returned to those old days. Great music, great laughs, great hangs. Friends old and new! The open road! Geocaching! Forever thankful for the friendship we've shared over these 20+ years. Here's to 1,000 more.

20 years since I saw these guys last. That means 20 years since I got kicked in the head during their Warped Tour set in Salt Lake. Good news all around that Thursday still rules as much (if not more) as they did back then and also that I didn't get kicked in the head or elsewhere this time around.

Happy birthday to Conor Oberst on this 15th of February.
It was really special being able to see and shoot both of the 2025 Bright Eyes shows here in Boise. After passing each other like ships in the night since last seeing them on the I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning tour on the eve of my 18th birthday, finally we came into port at the same time.
