The start of wonderful weekend with @limbeckband@phantomplanet & @theformat
I hadn't seen @robbmaclean@patrickisrad & @joncheese.mckesten in over 10 years and while we've each achieved so much since the last time, it was so comfortable and easy to feel as if we'd returned to those old days. Great music, great laughs, great hangs. Friends old and new! The open road! Geocaching! Forever thankful for the friendship we've shared over these 20+ years. Here's to 1,000 more.
The craziest part is that I met these two guys when I asked them if they knew where to get a cardboard box for a raffle box.
No idea who they even were but loved how gung ho they were about helping make the monstrosity. Tearing a hole for the cards, taping it together with thin red electrical tape. #justice4thebox
Shortly after we introduced each other and I asked Robb "So are you Limbeck or is that the name of the band?" That's how clueless I was, yes.
I watched them open later that night and it blew me away. Literally two guys having the best time playing guitar together. Goofy and passionate and humble. And the music was incredible. It's fun, it's got a twang to it, it's got a combo of indie rock and traditional country/rock vibes (think Shurman, Dead Hot Workshop, The Old 97s) with a twist of like...early emo? Its genreless and it hits your soul. I spent the week listening non-stop and managed to run in and catch their set tonight.
Over the course of the last week getting to know both Patrick and Robb I can say they're two of the sweetest gentlemen I've met. Music is so much better when it comes from great people and is received by great people. Limbeck is great people (and an iPod).
My only regret is not running away with one of their cactus stage props. That would be a great thing to get signed and hang on the wall as an Arizonan.
