What a crazy year. At the start I genuinely wanted to the quit film industry, believing I’d hit a wall of exhaustion, fatigue and lack of career traction I’d hoped for. The lifestyle of hopping from jobs, depending on mates ringing you up for the next gig, waiting forever on pitch decks to get signed off… it’s just an exhausting way to live.
I try to balance this by travelling, not letting the instability of work affect my 20’s and just saying fuck it it’s going to be shaky ground regardless.
And madly halfway through the year when I was about to quit, everything just fell into place, I got to direct my first commercial for a billboard in Stockholm, directed some music videos with some extremely talented people, directed my first doc in Wales, produced a couple verticals, 1st AD’d my first feature in Cyprus. Just gig after gig where your reminded why we do it. And as bait as this post is I can honestly say hand on heart this year has made the last nine years of stress in this mess of an industry worth it.
Thank you so much to all the artists, producers and creatives that took a chance on me.
