As we head into our opening night here in Ĺtautahi Christchurch, and the beginning of our nationwide tour, I'm still coming down from the high and catching my breath from what was an amazing premiere in Wellington of our new Nutcracker. End of an era! It was a bittersweet trip to Tauranga on the weekend, to farewell my childhood ballet school Dance Education Centre as they closed their doors after 50 years! So many memories in those walls, and what a service to dance in the Bay of Plenty and New Zealand! A huge thanks to Prue, Stu and Debbie, and to all who have contributed. I know the legacy of DEC will live on in the students, young and old, whose lives have been influenced and inspired by their time there. Aroha nui.
