Meet Piper and the porcelain dolls.
Spent a week in Texas working on some new skills. This is from a moment our class had in the Creation Lab where we were tasked to create a portrait using any studio lighting.
The scene was set with Piper and her collection of antique porcelain dolls. It gave me goosebumps so I elected to channel an eerie haunted vibe to the scene. @theatelierwaxahachie and Click Backdrops also help set the mood with great set pieces and a backdrop.
I chose to light my scene with @nanliteusa . Youâll see some extra lights kicking around, but only four were used in total. Used a combination of the Pavotube II 30câs for some warm rim light and green glow with the FC120C overhead with a Rapid60 softbox and grid. Finished the scene with *chefs kiss* the Bowens Mount Projection attachment on a FC500B with the arched window gobo to create some dramatic background shadows.
Finished the piece off in @lightroom and a painterly technique in @photoshop (thanks @amberdamour for the instruction!) My image placed first in our class competition as well as received a judges choice! Finished with naming the image âPorcelain Shadowsâ and adding some original music from @adobefirefly@nanlite_official@nanlite_global@clickbackdrops@txschool #nanlite #pavotubeii30c #porcelaindoll
Your eye has a story.
Last week at Texas School of Photography, we turned 1,600+ eyes into art.
What started as a simple iris photo station quickly became one of the most talked about activations of the week. Students, instructors, vendors, and attendees lined up to see their eyes transformed into electrifying artwork that looked straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Every iris was different.
Every image was personal.
Every final piece became a conversation starter.
What made this activation powerful wasnât just the technology. It was the reaction.
People saw themselves differently.
They posted it. Shared it. Printed it. Talked about it.
Thatâs the kind of experience people remember.
At PhotoVille, we are always looking for activations that go beyond âjust a picture.â
This was immersive. Personal. Artistic. And unforgettable.
1,600 eyes later⌠one thing is clear:
Experiences that connect will always win

The Vogue Magazine Box is always a favorite at any event!
Everyone loves how customizable it is. The Vogue Box can be captured by a professional photographer, a photobooth or the guests can use their phones, your choice. #rentphotoville #okcevents #pbbackdrops #eventphotography #events
Movie MagicâŚOld Hollywood inspired.
Let the @txschool recap begin. â¨
We kicked off Sunday night with three Hollywood-inspired sets, and honestly, it felt meant to be that Texas Schoolâs theme this year was Hollywood. We kept joking that they planned it just for us.
To start the week, we used all @westcottlighting continuous lights (the L120 here). It let everyone jump right into creating and getting to know each other without worrying about channels, groups, or technical setup just yet.
One of my favorite parts was watching this huge room come aliveâlight spilling across every corner, conversations starting, cameras clicking, creativity building in real time. It felt like the perfect way to begin a week centered around storytelling, collaboration, and movie-inspired magic.
Over the next week, Iâll be sharing more from each set along with some bts moments to keep the magic going. Stay tuned. â¨
