I had SC Studios in my studio this week shooting video content. I took advantage of having my hair and makeup done to grab some new headshots for myself❤️
I used the dramatic “Colors Love” backdrop from Click Backdrops for these new self portraits, and Makeup by Mark was on site making sure we stayed polished and camera-ready all day long.
People always ask me, “Who does your headshots?”
My answer? “Who else? I do!” 📸
As much as I love being behind the camera, stepping in front of it reminds me exactly how my clients feel — vulnerable, nervous, trying to figure out what to do with their hands, and hoping they look their best. It gives me even more empathy for every person who trusts me to photograph them.
That’s why creating a comfortable, encouraging experience matters just as much to me as creating beautiful images.
Here’s to practicing what I preach… and occasionally turning the camera on myself. ❤️

Meet Piper and the porcelain dolls.
Spent a week in Texas working on some new skills. This is from a moment our class had in the Creation Lab where we were tasked to create a portrait using any studio lighting.
The scene was set with Piper and her collection of antique porcelain dolls. It gave me goosebumps so I elected to channel an eerie haunted vibe to the scene. @theatelierwaxahachie and Click Backdrops also help set the mood with great set pieces and a backdrop.
I chose to light my scene with @nanliteusa . You’ll see some extra lights kicking around, but only four were used in total. Used a combination of the Pavotube II 30c’s for some warm rim light and green glow with the FC120C overhead with a Rapid60 softbox and grid. Finished the scene with *chefs kiss* the Bowens Mount Projection attachment on a FC500B with the arched window gobo to create some dramatic background shadows.
Finished the piece off in @lightroom and a painterly technique in @photoshop (thanks @amberdamour for the instruction!) My image placed first in our class competition as well as received a judges choice! Finished with naming the image “Porcelain Shadows” and adding some original music from @adobefirefly@nanlite_official@nanlite_global@clickbackdrops@txschool #nanlite #pavotubeii30c #porcelaindoll
