Khia and Jonathan didn’t just plan a wedding -
they created a celebration of who they are
and where they come from.
Khia walked in wearing an emerald green gown,
crafted by her dear friend and Darwin designer
@matildaalegria ,
made with hand-printed fabric by the incredible women artists
of
@babbarradesigns in Maningrida.
A piece of home. A piece of story.
She paired it with fuchsia bow heels
& vibrant Australian native floral bouquets from
@beijaflordarwin -
bold, beautiful, unapologetically her.
Jonathan, in a soft sandy cream suit, stood tall beside her.
Calm, proud, grounded.
Together, they just made sense.
When I asked what mattered most,
they didn’t mention a shot list or big plans.
They simply said,
“We want time with our guests. Our family. Our people.”
So we carved out ten sweet minutes for portraits
and the rest is all about being present, soaking up every second.
The celebration felt like home.
Warm curries and rice passed around with laughter,
wine flows freely, and stories linger long after the plates are cleared.
A heartfelt nod to where they come from
- Khia, with her Indian heritage, and Jonathan, to his Aboriginal roots.
Their love honoured through the comfort of shared meals,
just the way they both grew up.
And the dance floor!
No fancy choreography. No spectacle.
Just voices raised in song, arms around shoulders,
feet stomping to Dr Elephant’s live set.
Behind it all, quietly holding everything together,
was the incredible Tammie from

Weaving every detail into something that felt deeply, beautifully personal.
This was a wedding that celebrated Top End!
Its people, its energy, its roots, its soul and diversity.
