đŸ“ș🏆 THE 2025 TV SCHOLAR AWARDS - Part 1🏆đŸ“ș Before you get mad about a snub here are some disclaimers: -The eligibility period is Dec 1 2024 to Dec 1 2025. Shows need to have aired at least half of its season by Dec 1 to be eligible (so Heated Rivalry will be next year, for example; Pluribus made it into this year). -I take a holistic view with these awards because I’m a voting body of 1. I aim to spotlight underrated performances. So keep that in mind for some big leads/shows (ie., I might award a show’s leads via an ensemble nom to keep slots open for others – I think this is most apparent in the drama category) -I took some creative liberties on some things like deciding someone is a lead rather than supporting. It’s my house and my rules after all! -To keep things manageable only shows with an American distribution were eligible. So “Lost Boys & Fairies” was added to Britbox in 2025 but actually aired in 2024. Meanwhile a show like “What It Feels Like for A Girl” hasn’t been distributed yet so it’s not nominated here. -I LOOOOOVEEEEE television but I simply cannot watch everything. I’m sure I’ll be kicking myself next year when I watch something I missed. But that’s ok <3 WINNERS will be announced in my newsletter on Friday. Subscribe @ tvscholar.com ✹ Let me know who you’re rooting for in the comments. Part 2 - drama categories coming tomorrow.

Wait The Other Bennet Sister is such a delight I watched it so quickly lol. Pride and Prejudice (2005 film ofc) was always on in my household growing up but this is a different lens on the story, focused on Mary, the awkward glasses-wearing sister who prefers books to tired Regency-era courtship rituals (so basically me but with TV). So she goes on this journey of self-discovery to figure out what she *really* wants (and how to stand up against rude as hell bullies). It kind of ends predictably but whatever, sometimes a clichĂ© happily ever after works (this is the world of P&P, after all). Episodes are short, like 25-30 minutes apiece (for a 10-episode season). đŸ“ș #theotherbennetsister @britboxtv #tv #tvshow #television #TOBStvscholar

HOW’S THAT?! Well, The Comeback watchers, it’s the end again. And whew was it satisfying: The show landing on a clear stance against AI was extremely satisfying to me. And the guest stars along the way omg? Above all: Valerie f*cking Cherish! What a character and an arc. I know this was the “series” finale but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a fourth season next decade đŸ€ If you haven’t watched yet, it’s well-worth starting from season 1. I couldn’t quite figure out why the show decided to use a combination of “raw mockumentary footage” and the omnipresent camera/perspective until it sort of hit me the other day & I wrote a newsletter about surveillance in 2026 and how the show is perfectly capturing that moment — you can read @ tvscholar.com or DM me and I’ll send you a link! đŸ“ș #thecomeback @hbo #tv #tvshow #TCtvscholad

Hacks oh my GODDDDDD Let’s go lesbians (Cherry freaking Jones)
the way episode 7 plays on our fanfic fantasies while also PERFECTLY nailing Ava and Deb’s particular dynamic. And without blowing up their connection! I’m gagged. 5 stars from me, maybe my fav Hacks episode of the series. Emmys all around. And preceded by I think the only episode of TV I’ve watched that properly addresses the use of AI in creative fields
a final season for the records. đŸ“ș #hacks @hbomax #tv #television #hackstvscholar

Margo’s Got Money Troubles is a perfect show btw I run to watch it every week and I can’t believe there are only two episodes left already. Dare I say this will/should make a splash at the Emmys (streets are saying they are submitting as a comedy, i.e., renewal incoming?). It will do well at the TV Scholar Awards that’s for sure
and I feel like there are so many places for it to grow in future seasons if they take it there. And I think the performances are incredible! Fanning and Pfeiffer have BEEN working but I feel like they’re on another plane here, in part due to their chemistry with each other I’d say. If you aren’t watching I say jump aboard immediately tbh đŸ“ș #margosgotmoneytroubles @appletv #tv #tvshow #MGMTtvscholar

Need something good to watch? Look no further. ✋đŸ“ș You’re spoiled for choice if you’re seeking something new, from the heavy-hitting drama “Half Man” on HBO (from the creator of “Baby Reindeer”) to “Widow’s Bay,” horror series starring Matthew Rhys on Apple TV. If you're looking for something more classic, consider the 2003 reboot “Battlestar Galactica” — arguably one of the best sci-fi dramas ever made. Swipe to see what Yahoo contributor and TV critic Michel Ghanem (@tvscholar ) recommends this week, and head to the link in our bio to read more from his column, “Trust Me, I Watch Everything.”

To no one’s surprise I’m obsessed with Widow’s Bay It makes me miss both Servant and Evil in terms of how both shows were able to infuse comedy into horror, but make it a Stephen King story (which this isn’t! But it could be). A cozy small island, Matthew Rhys, Jeff Hiller, spooky vibes
I meannn. I’m gobbling it up. Ten seasons please. đŸ“ș #widowsbay @appletv #tv #tvshow #television #WBtvscholar

I finished my HIGH FIDELITY rewatch btw Absolutely worth it. The last 3 episodes HITTTTT. Rob’s 30th birthday episode felt the most Sex and the City-adjacent and I’m obsessed at the way the show plays with structure/timelines, holding certain reveals for just the right moment. And Simon’s episode
my god, hits harder than I remember. The satisfaction when he doesn’t get back together with his toxic ex âœ‹đŸŒ Now that I’m done I’m like okay, @hulu , it’s not too late to break no contact and renew this show
like I KNOWWWW it would do better than some other shows they’ve tried to make work. Besides, I NEED more Cherise. đŸ“ș #highfidelity @hulu #tv #tvshow #television #HFtvscholar

Cackling so hard watching HACKS I scared my cat LIKE LMAOOO. The entire Amazing Race sequence was sending me. The physical comedy! Trisha Paytas
maybe we need her in more shows actually she kind of killed it. And I’ve heard this was Kaitlin Olsen’s last Hacks episode which is so damn sad but wow, what a note to end on (and a final touch to the Deb/DJ arc). And yes I was screaming at all of the other appearances (Caitlin Reilly! Anna Konkle! Cancel Queen Jordan Firstman!) Unfortunately this means we’re halfway through the season 😔 đŸ“ș #hacks @hbomax #tv #tvshow #hackstvscholar

No way Jose I think I’m still reeling from DTF St. Louis? I kind of can’t stop thinking about the finale and vulnerability between men and intimacy and midlife existentialism
and the parallels between David Harbour’s character and the Pussy Palace of it all
and how this might be in my top 3 fav limited series of the year so far I think?! Swipe until the end to get to a little clip of me yapping about the show for @elamin ’s @commotioncbc podcast alongside the brilliant @vinsoncunningham . đŸ“ș #dtfstlouis @hbo #tv #tvshow #DSLtvscholar
