It was a harsh day for our annual kite flight for Palestine with @mopslubbock and @ttusjp
A really windy, gusty Lubbock day.
But it really goes to show, that to stand in solidarity you must show up, no matter which way the wind is blowing.
So grateful to the moms and community members of this place, who have been showing up.
With their kids, with handmade kites, with snacks, and with signs of support.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when it seems that no one else is doing it, that no one else cares.
Even when you know your government is complicit in these crimes, and the media is biased.
Even when you still see people suffering, caught in limbo, unable to reconstruct and rebuild, still in tents and broken buildings in G4za.
Even when you see people still getting gunned down in Ramallah, or their homes bulldozed and taken over by settlers.
Even when the sun is scorching and the wind bites your skin.
Even when the wind pushes you in one direction, your moral compass still shows true north.

Texas and Oklahoma SJP Chapters stand in solidarity with Professor Idris Robinson, unjustly fired by Texas State for his speech in support of Palestinian liberation. The more they try to silence us, the stronger we become–committed to fighting for the freedom and dignity of the Palestinian people until liberation, from the river to the sea.

Hey everyone! We're hoping to spread some good energy in early April by doing another mutual aid run for the unhoused community in Lubbock.
Back in late January before the huge winter storm, with the help of @eastlubbockarthouse , @defenddemocracylbk , and many other community members and groups, we were able to distribute aid to over 50+ Lubbockites thanks to the communities donations of money, clothes, and other supplies. We were able to make 25+ care packages, give out warm chilli, hot chocolate, and pizza, and distribute warm clothing/blankets around the Southeast, Downtown, and Heart of Lubbock throughout the morning before the storm. And the most important part, this all was organized in under 48 hours!
With your help, we can do this again, but with more time to prepare. We'll need donations of clothes, blankets, and hygiene essentials. If interested, DM us, and we'd happy to pick up donations from you! Other ways you can support is by donating on Venmo, and that money will go towards meal distribution and more assemblies of care packages. We're always open to having extra hands for our distribution, so if you'd like to be apart of it on the day of April 3rd, please message us and we can give you more information on how to volunteer.
On Sunday, March 8, in collaboration with @ttusjp , @ttusilc and the Decolonial Theory Reading Group, @co.opt will be screening the classic Battle of Algiers (1966).
One of the most politically urgent films of all time, Gillo Pontecorvo’s film does not reconstruct the Algerian War from a detached vantage point; it feels as though it is occurring in the present tense.
Most of the actors in the film took part in the actual Algerian resistance, adding a realism to it that other war films have tried to emulate ever since.
📽️Screening: Sunday, March 8
⏰ Doors at 1, film starts at 2 (running time: 2 hrs)

Lubbock community, join us this weekend in solidarity with Minnesota!
The violence of the state is expanding with the increase of I.C.E terror squad presence across our communities. Now is the time to stand together in the struggle against I.C.E. forces that are plaguing our schools, hospitals, workplaces, and streets. We must unite in solidarity with everyone who has been kidnapped, maimed, murdered, and separated from their loved ones by American fascism.
The general strike in Minneapolis on Friday, January 23rd was only the beginning, with another general strike being called nationally for Friday, January 30th. We demand justice for Keith Porter, Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Heber Sanchaz Dominguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Parady La, Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres, Geraldo Lunas Campos, and everyone who has been killed/harmed by the state through intentional neglect and abuse.
It is our duty to stand up for our neighbors and against the American death machine. From Palestine to Minneapolis to Lubbock, militarism against the oppressed must be challenged and defeated.
Last minute mutual aid effort! The storm coming in tomorrow is going to be intense, and we want to provide any support we can. Drop off any donations at East Lubbock Art House by 7pm tonight, or message us (@ttusjp ) if you need us to pick it up. Warm clothings is of highest priority, so dig through your closet and find stuff you no longer use, and we'll give it out. Stay warm out there!
