On Sunday, March 8, in collaboration with @ttusjp , @ttusilc and the Decolonial Theory Reading Group, @co.opt will be screening the classic Battle of Algiers (1966). One of the most politically urgent films of all time, Gillo Pontecorvo’s film does not reconstruct the Algerian War from a detached vantage point; it feels as though it is occurring in the present tense. Most of the actors in the film took part in the actual Algerian resistance, adding a realism to it that other war films have tried to emulate ever since. 📽️Screening: Sunday, March 8 ⏰ Doors at 1, film starts at 2 (running time: 2 hrs) #battleofalgiers #coopt

Lubbock community, join us this weekend in solidarity with Minnesota! The violence of the state is expanding with the increase of I.C.E terror squad presence across our communities. Now is the time to stand together in the struggle against I.C.E. forces that are plaguing our schools, hospitals, workplaces, and streets. We must unite in solidarity with everyone who has been kidnapped, maimed, murdered, and separated from their loved ones by American fascism. The general strike in Minneapolis on Friday, January 23rd was only the beginning, with another general strike being called nationally for Friday, January 30th. We demand justice for Keith Porter, Renee Good, Alex Pretti, Heber Sanchaz Dominguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Parady La, Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres, Geraldo Lunas Campos, and everyone who has been killed/harmed by the state through intentional neglect and abuse. It is our duty to stand up for our neighbors and against the American death machine. From Palestine to Minneapolis to Lubbock, militarism against the oppressed must be challenged and defeated.

Last minute mutual aid effort! The storm coming in tomorrow is going to be intense, and we want to provide any support we can. Drop off any donations at East Lubbock Art House by 7pm tonight, or message us (@ttusjp ) if you need us to pick it up. Warm clothings is of highest priority, so dig through your closet and find stuff you no longer use, and we'll give it out. Stay warm out there!

Repost of @defenddemocracylbk Join us for a peaceful protest and to honor the memory of Renee Nicole Good. Sunday, 5:30PM, at citizens tower. Renee Good was a mother and wife who was tragically shot by an ICE agent as she was trying to leave the scene in her vehicle. The Trump administration is trying to paint this as self defense, but we will not be gaslit. This was murder. If you are attending the protest, please do not bring amplification devices. Law enforcement will be present for safety. It is important that we keep this sensitive moment peaceful, safe, and respectful. RIP Renee Good.

Beginning in early October, TTU SILC and SJP will be hosting a bi-monthly reading group focused on outlining, educating, and discussing anticolonial, decolonial, and settler colonial theories and relevant case studies. We will be moving across the globe to provide context of how colonialism has shaped many structures around the world, and the future that decolonial thought and praxis offers for our individual and community work in solidarity and liberation! We invite you to fill out our interest form, either by scanning the QR code or clicking the link in our bios, and you will be invited to join our discord where we will provide meeting times and selected readings. This reading group is open to all students, faculty, and community members who wish to join, and we will provide a hybrid environment for in-person and online participants. We hope to see you there! Look out for more information soon 👋
