✨EVOLUTION Asian American Arts Festival ✨
A massive thank you to the Lookingglass Theatre for providing their space so everyone could join in to witness the incredible depth of Asian American artistry and community spirit last weekend. From the first performance to the last bite of food, the atmosphere was a testament to the power of coming together. This video is only a small portion of what we had in day 1. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Happy AAPI Heritage Month! 🪭

🤍 I struggle with perfection. on social media, we’re so used to seeing the ideal tea setup — perfect leaves, calm moments, the romanticized version of starting a small business.
lately, life has felt heavy. and instead of crafting the perfect pr statement, I’m choosing imperfection. If there’s anything I’ve learned from starting tsay tea, it’s that tea is never perfect. It’s wild-grown, hand-plucked, human-made. some seasons are better than others. a worn tea pot works just as well as an expensive one — and that’s where the beauty is.
so here’s to showing up less polished, more human. and in that spirit…drink tea and f*ck 🧊 #weareimmigrants
ps how gorgeous and perfect is this wild grown tea (+ everything else) forest in central taiwan 😍
Mark your calendars! Monsoon Pottery is participating as an official stop on @westtownchicago ’s 15th Annual Arts Walk October 3-5.
We’ll have fun events all weekend long with: complimentary sake pours on Friday, a @tsay.tea Pop-Up on Saturday, and a @mokomatea / @sugoi_sweets Pop-Up on Sunday.
I’ll have just returned from a wood firing in Wisconsin and will debut my new pots over the weekend. Expect lots of teaware.
I hope to see you there. #monsoonpottery
To celebrate #AANHPI Month, we’re featuring some of our favorite AANHPI-owned businesses. Please support them if you are able!
Founded in 2024, @tsay.tea focuses on sourcing Taiwanese teas from family-owned and operated farms. The ethos of the company is simple: sharing tea that brings you warmth, connection, and a full heart.

📚 eee lots of excitement already for “The Story of Taiwan Tea” by Dr HM Cheng and Katy HW Hung @katyhung11 - limited copies available on our website and this saturday 5/17 at our event with @threeleggedcrowtea !
Our goal is to share the rich history and cultural context behind each taiwanese tea we offer - so tea drinkers can dig deeper and appreciate the skills, heritage, and story behind every cup. To do this, we do endless research visiting museums, asking farmers and producers directly about their stories, and ofc reading every resource we can get our hands on! The Story of Taiwan Tea is the first bilingual book focused on Taiwanese tea. It definitely reads quite academic - but there are fascinating details tea lovers will drool over. excited to finally offer this alongside our teas!
Temporary Teahouse is a series of events hosted by Three-Legged Crow Tea to emulate our vision of the future, our very own teahouse.
Each event features another Chicago business and we are proud to announce Tsay Tea, a local Taiwanese tea vendor, will be joining us for this one! In addition we will have local ceramics and some upcycled clothing for sale.
Our plan is to run these events until we open up our own brick and mortar teahouse or run out of money!
Come build this third space with us so we can take off the temporary title!
Can't wait to share tea with y'all!

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Reminder there is no right or wrong way to brew tea! These instructions are meant to be a starting point - please feel free to experiment and learn what works best for you and your practice!
1️⃣ Prep your ingredients - for an individual serving, start with 8oz of 195-210F / 90-99C water and 3g of tea leaves.
2️⃣ Optional pro tip is to warm your vessels & tea leaves with quick rinses. Discard the water with each rinse.
3️⃣ Pour the water onto the leaves and steep for 1:30-3:30min. The longer the steep, the stronger the flavor - if it gets too bitter for your liking, you’ve likely oversteeped.
4️⃣ Resteep for an additional 1:30-3:30min, depending on your tastes.
💬💬💬 How do you brew your tea? Share your tips in the comments!
ps. filming & editing clearly aren’t our fortes, big shout out to our intern @sofi._castro for her invaluable help on this!!
