Born in Jaffna, raised in London, and now playing across Sri Lanka, India, Singapore. On the latest Highlife & Sunshine show on NTS ️This month on the continent, I had to take a moment with Fela Kuti’s Roforofo Fight (1972)One of those records that still cuts through like it was made yesterday.“Roforofo” meaning mud… pointless, messy fights where nobody really wins. Fela was talking Lagos, politics, power but it still lands now in ways that feel a little too familiar.I don’t always reach for Fela on the show because sometimes it feels like the obvious move when there’s so much depth across the continent to explore. But every now and then you come back and remember… yeah, this is the foundation. Introducing our second guest at @club__soft next week - @tryb_official ! TrYb is a DJ and broadcaster who brings a radiant energy to every dancefloor. With radio shows on @orokoradio + @voices_radio - TrYb creates space for music discovery, her sets weave diasporic club sounds with left-field bass and borderless grooves. TrYb has also been exploring the restorative power of ancestral rhythms through her “deep listening” set at @shai.space - demonstrating her range as a selector and musical storyteller. DJ’d mile 21 of the London marathon @londonmarathon over the weekend #RainbowRow 6 hours in… legs heavy, faces tired but the runners still brought the energy! Families dancing in the street, people showing up LOUD for their people.London at its softest and loudest at the same time. Was able to play pure camp, pop and gay anthems start to finish - not my usual bag but but Might need to run that back Nothing like watching someone in a full costume push through the wall to a Ariana Grande chorus…Big love to everyone running for something bigger. A beautiful day.#londonmarathon #djset #WeRunTogether

The next Club Soft is May 9th at @thelastarch !! We are so excited to be joined by Slow Tech pioneer @sim_mtl who will be performing live, bringing his mutative boundary-pushing sound to the Last Arch system. We are also delighted to have a DJ set from @tryb_official - a selector who brings joy and energy to dancefloors and radio stations in London and beyond - expect bass-heavy club rhythms and sun soaked grooves. + our residents @minamusicuk will be bringing her signature high energy club sounds rooted in rhythm and euphoria, and rave architects @sanaasuculenta + @shrykeox3 will be bringing their exhilarating blend of 140, footwork, jungle, dubstep and more. We are also hosting a free (with ticket) movement workshop with @niamh_keady from 5.30pm, designed to help you explore movement within a club space at your own pace! At Club Soft you can expect:-a wide range of global club sounds-a funktion-one soundsystem-room to dance-delicious alcohol-free soft drinks-a cameraphone-free dancefloor-a warm and intergenerational crowdTickets are on @gel.now and resident advisor!
