As someone who is definitely my own worst critic, I’m constantly questioning whether I made the right career decisions and how much I’m contributing to the culture. Working in nightlife is not for the weak, and sometimes it’s so easy to get caught up in comparison, competition and constantly chasing the next thing that you forget to stop and fully appreciate your own contribution.
Recently, out of the blue,
@gillianviews called me, not only to give me my flowers, but to offer me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase and platform the work I’ve been doing, alongside some of the incredible people I’ve been creating spaces with, in various formats, over the last 18 years.
So, join me on Sunday 23rd August for The Music Is Black Festival at East Bank, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where I’ll be curating and programming the Main Stage for QUEER FREQUENCIES — a weekend festival celebrating Black queer music culture, community, and the people continuing to shape London nightlife and creative spaces.
The festival forms part of an eight-month programme celebrating Black British music and culture, with a series of co-curated events taking place across Summer 2026 in association with V&A East, BBC Music Studios, UAL’s London College of Fashion, Sadler’s Wells East and UCL.
I can’t wait to share more with you over the coming weeks… and I’ll see you on Sunday 23rd August 😅🖤
