Thank you for trusting me and being part of Dead Roots!
Some of the comments after the screening of βDead rootsβ:
βl have sensed the intimate, professional and emotional relations between the people in front of/behind the camera while watching the movie.β
βIt was a personal story which happens to anyone in some moments of life. β
βWhile watching I was driven by emotions, not the story.β
βI didnβt get the answers, I was left searching them on my ownβ¦.β
And for me personally it was something which every teacher and mom dreams of: creating together with her lovely students and son, and all the young people who were involved in making this graduating movie of Meglen.
Man doesnβt want to look and even less to dig in his wounds, but sometimes that is the only way to face his own insignificance and the beauty of the world. What else could be the meaning of the traveling and the long absence, except to deepen the real and essential relationships, and to clean the shallow and conditioned once between people.
My name is Sinolicka Trpkova, actor in the film βDead Rootsβ.
It is said that when we travel, the destination is not as important as the experience we gain along the way. This is especially true when making films. βDead Rootsβ is Meglenβs graduation film, in which current and already graduated students of mine are part of. It is a collaboration between students from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts Skopje and Dutch film artists. Bringing people of different cultures together through art opens a new door, or better said, a new home. It is important for every artist to be open to collaboration and recognize where they feel at home, in their own field. As Goran Stefanovski said: βHome is where it hurtsβ. When you arenβt home, it hurts. When you are home, it still hurts. βDead Rootsβ explores that pain but at the same time cuts it off from us, opening up a space for boundless freedom in the interpretation of what home truly means.
