After 10 years doing this, my definition of a good content plan is pretty boring.
It works.
Not “it looked great in the meeting.” Not “the client was happy with the look and feel.” It actually worked in real life with real content.
While being at @contentualco , We’ve watched so many teams spend months planning what to make and then never check if any of it did anything. That’s not a plan. That’s just a wish list.
A good plan changes as you learn. You make stuff, you see what happens, you adjust, you go again.
And your audience changes too. So your plan has to keep up with them.

Long videos or short videos? My honest answer is both. But before you even go there, ask yourself one thing first.
What does my audience actually watch?
Most brands need both. Long videos help people get to know you and trust you. Short videos keep you showing up regularly. Together they work really well.
But here’s what I actually tell people. The best format is the one you can keep up with. If you’re a small team, short videos done well every week will beat long videos done badly every few months.
Get consistent first. Then grow from there.

Most brands mess up their content before they even start making it.
Here’s what happens. They see something cool from another brand, think “let’s do that”, and copy it. But the problem is they’re copying something that was made for a completely different audience.
So the content looks nice but it doesn’t connect. Because it wasn’t made for the people they’re actually trying to reach.
The fix is so simple. Before you make anything, just ask: who is this for and what do they actually need?

Lately, I’ve been drawn to the idea of slowing down, stepping away from the fast pace of my usual shoots.
When I found myself in Cape Town recently, I just happened to be there at the same time as the famous wildflower bloom on along the west coast. I knew this would be a good moment to capture beauty in its simplest form. @cody_vanwyk@sharnschafer and myself travelled to the West Coast National Park and documented the bloom all the way down to the @kirstenbosch_nbg gardens.
Instead of chasing the grand and elaborate, I focused on something more intentional – creating video postcards that reflect the delicate, effortless charm of these flowers and how they transform the landscapes around them.
I also got to test out the new Canon C80 to capture these frames. No gimbals or elaborate rigs, just a tripod and my own two hands. It was such a needed break for me to just get out there and try something different. Capturing small moments happening in this grand show put on by Mother Nature.

During an afternoon shoot, I looked across a corridor and saw a family sitting down for a simple meal after a long day. It wasn’t part of the project, but something about that moment spoke to me—so raw, so real. Without thinking, I clicked the shutter.
That photo has become one of my favorites, not because it was perfect, but because it was authentic.

Some of the best experiments I have usually happen at home.
My wife @spicy_confetti wanted to refresh her professional headshots with a bit of a creative touch.
So I setup a small backdrop in our garage and tried three different approaches. I decided to use a simple setup (A @godoxsouthafrica AD300 Pro with a 120cm softbox) and one fill light.
Images 1 & 2 have the flash from the side for a bit more mood. Images 3 & 4 moved the flash a bit higher and in front for more beauty light. And the last image was a bit of fun with some slow shutter and grading. What was your favorite? 📸⚡️
All shots were on the @canonrsa R5 with a 24-70mm RF.
