âMust-read,â âBlown away,â âUnbelievable.â
Thatâs Mel Robbins holding up my new book. Iâll let her do the talking. đď¸đ
Youâve Been Pooping All Wrong comes out in just a few daysâApril 7! Comment MEL for the episode link that came out TODAY, and comment BOOK to grab your copy!
Hi đ I have somehow gotten tens of thousands of new followers recentlyâand since Mel Robbins just told the world that I am the âsingle most-credentialed doctor under 40 weâve ever had on the show,â I guess Iâd better explain myself.
Iâm Dr. Trisha Pasricha (pus-REACH-ah), a gastroenterologist at Beth Israel and a scientist at Harvard Medical School. Iâm also the âAsk A Doctorâ columnist at The Washington Post where I answer your health questions!
My credentials: In addition to my MD and MPH, Iâm double board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. I split my time seeing patients, performing endoscopies, and as the Director of the Institute for Gut-Brain Research, researching diseases like irritable bowel syndrome and Parkinsonâs disease. My labâs work has been published in The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA Network Open, Gastroenterology and many more (Iâm probably most famous still for that one study about how smartphones are linked to hemorrhoids though đ)!
Hereâs one thing you NEED to know: As a journalist, I will never sell you medications or supplements. I donât have time for that, and neither do you (plus, it goes against my code of ethics).
So drop me a message to say hello or to ask a burning questionâfrom whether gluten sensitivity is a real âthingâ to whether magnesium supplements really work! Iâll give you science-backed answers and will always tell you about the limits of our data.
When Iâm not doing all that, youâll find me cuddling my chow chow Cannoli and enjoying time with my husband and two rowdy and perfectly wonderful toddlers! Thanks for joining me here!
Sheâs going to steal my telescope đ
In honor of colorectal cancer awareness month, this âtummy doctorâ wants you to know that colonoscopies save lives đ
Comment BOOK and Iâll send you the link to my forthcoming book âYouâve Been Pooping All Wrongâ coming out April 7th! Itâs a deep dive into the gut-brain connection and what we get wrongâwith everything you need to make your bowel movements a breeze đđ˝
60 percent. Thatâs how much the levels of plastic-associated chemicals dropped in peopleâs urine after one just week of changing their diet, according to a new study.
And for a topic that can generate a lot of anxiety, the studyâs results offer a glimmer of hope that everyday dietary choices can actually move the needle on our health, says Dr. Trisha Pasricha (@trishapasrichamd ), a physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and The Washington Postâs Ask a Doctor columnist.

I first came across this study years ago when I started writing YOUâVE BEEN POOPING ALL WRONG, and I almost couldnât believe it had actually happened. If youâve ever had your gut fall apart during a stressful event, this study is for you.
Comment BOOK if you want to dive deeper into the other side of the story: how the GUT influences your stress, anxiety, and depressionâand Iâll send you a link to grab your copy of my national bestsellerđ on the gut-brain connection âYouâve Been Pooping All Wrong.â
Are food sensitivity tests actually a waste? đŤđĽ
Stop falling for unproven shortcuts! In this episode, Dr Trisha Pasricha reveals the real science behind finding your GI triggers and why true answers donât come from a single test.

A new randomized control trial published in Nature Medicine has given me something I rarely get to offer my patients: actual optimism when it comes to a study about plastic chemicals.
In seven days, researchers found that we could achieve measurable changes in the levels of plastic chemicals in our bodies through a few changes to our lifestyle.
Comment PLASTIC, and Iâll DM you my full column for the The Washington Post that just dropped this week.

We need to talk about toilet scrolling.
Yes, as a health issue. No, your teen will not love this conversation.
In this episode, we talk with Dr. Trisha Pasricha, neurogastroenterologist and author of Youâve Been Pooping All Wrong, about constipation, period poops, gut-brain health, toilet time, and the bathroom habits most of us never learned properly, including why sitting on the toilet with your phone may not be doing your body any favors.
Because pooping is basic. But shame, misinformation, constipation, and silent suffering are way more common than they should be.
We also talk about how parents can discuss poop with tweens and teens without making everyone immediately leave the room.
đ§Listen wherever you get your podcasts. Ideally not from the toilet.
Happy Motherâs Day! What a gift that I have these two tiny pieces of my heart that live outside my body, and make every dayânot just todayâsuch a joy đ¸đťâ¤ď¸
A lot of remedies people talk about for irritable bowel syndrome have little to no scientific backing. But there are in fact a number of well-studied treatments for IBS, says Dr. Trisha Pasricha (@trishapasrichamd ), a physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and The Washington Postâs Ask a Doctor columnist.
So if youâve been told there is no real treatment for IBS, then look no further. This video is for you.
