I’m deeply saddened to announce that my father, Terrance L. Sorrells, passed away on April 3, 2026. Those who knew him knew what an incredible man he was. He was the type of man to start working at the age of 9 to take care of his mother, brothers, and sisters. The type of man to give you everything he had left to make sure you were happy and taken care of. The type of man to basically adopt all of my friends as his own children and look out for them as if they were his own. The type of man to remember my exact tour departure and return dates and text me to make sure I made it.
He was also the type of man to raise five exceptional men who don’t hesitate to make sacrifices, look out for the people around them, and work incredibly hard to provide for the ones they love.
Over the last three days, everyone has told me how proud of us he was. I know he was—he showed it every day. But I want this on the record: Dad, I am so proud of YOU.
I know you’re going to continue to be with us every step of our journey, just like you always have. I love you so much. Rest easy.
I fell in love with this tune after I saw a video of @chadlbsax playing it to a slightly rowdy crowd in Brazil. Needless to say, about 40 seconds into the video you could hear a pen drop. Been a main stay in my repertoire ever since. 🤟🏾💙

Ok I’m actually like 6 months late making this public knowledge, but I’m so happy to announce that I have joined the faculty of St. Mary’s College of Maryland as an Instructor of Music, where I am teaching Saxophone, Jazz Combo, and Jazz Ensemble. I’ve been working closely with my close friend and colleague @ellingtoncarthan to inspire and bring out the best in these students and I’m already so proud of the progress we’ve made.
