This past Saturday, I was able to do my 2nd Gran Fondo Moab. Last year was 50 miles with 2,874 feet of elevation. So i was so looking forward to it knowing i did it last year excited to beat my time. Already signed up and had not seen the route until 2 days prior to GO TIME and about choked when i saw the route had changed to 56 miles with 5,364 feet of elevation😳🤦🏽‍♀️! However, i knew i could, and would do it. I was excited and was not a bit nervous like i used to get. We took off as I was on Troys wheel to start out. Mind you, he was not supposed to be doing this but was added once the staff heard he was only doing the gravel race. So i was on his wheel for about 6 miles as my warm up and then thanked him as he went and did his race and I did mine. It was such a gorgeous view 😜🤭. I set my pace as i was preparing for all the climbing. As Troy and I had studied the route, it was dead on and we began to climb at about mile 16. When i tell you it was non stop until mile 37, it was non stop. About 3-4 of the climbs pitched up to 11-13% grade. I walked for a little bit! Best believe I got my tay-boots back on even as it was climbing. I made it to the first rest stop which was mile 25. I refilled my water bottles, ate some oranges and my nutrition, got back on my bike and sure enough, climbed straight from the jump! Another few 11% grades and then made it to the time chip cut off at mile 37. I texted then called Troy to confirm i was done climbing! NO!!! Lets just say there were another few more of the same 11% bit then the final descent to finish 56 miles. However, they threw in another steep climb at the very last mile! Hell ya they did! But I did it and finished 29th in my age group out of 35. 106th overall out of 156 registered females and only 119 finished. 56.6 miles with 5,364 feet of climbing! I finished and was treated with a great steak dinner with my wonderful hubby and friends! I could not have done it without putting in the work. Thank you baby! When i tell you it was well worth it for the descent….last few miles in 36 min!! 💨

So something happened yesterday that wasn’t supposed to, but it did😳. So we drove and arrived in Moab yesterday to partake in the @transrockiesbike Moab bike fest. Now Andrea was to do the road version, which took place today. And I was to do the Gravel version tomorrow. Well a couple of the organizers that have become dear friends/family of ours were not having that; picture 3 and 4. So I was signed up for today’s road version this morning😬❤️. Picture 6. How Kool is that to have such an opportunity. So there I was in take it easy mode as much as possible for 56 miles and 5,604ft of climbing😬. In the first 16 miles we covered 600ft of climbing. Over the next 24 miles we would climb 4,400ft😳. Yep. Not a typo. Then after a short decent they feed us 500 more feet in a 2 miles😩. WOW!!!! I had a Great ride where the scenery was second to absolutely NONE. 4hrs36min03sec rolling time 12.56avg 46.6max speed 157HR avg 175max 8,335 high point of elevation. This is such a Great organization and organized event❤️. Tomorrow 3,000+ more gains. But the BEST of this day was My Baby Andrea conquered this ride as well❤️❤️❤️💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾.
