Ending the year with post from my favorite photoshoot of 2025 , which some of you may have seen at @monadnyc this summer.. This series is called “hairloom”
Hairloom explores the legacy and innovation of Black hair through the lens of African American style. Rooted in West African traditions, the project highlights how our community has turned protection into expression creating trends, defining beauty standards, and building a culture out of resistance.
Wigs take center stage. bold, sculptural, and styled like art pieces. This is about honoring the past, owning the present, and styling our survival into something unforgettable.
Hair loom is a play on the word heirloom. we’ve inherited the creativity and spiritual depth of our West African ancestors. With our styling practices shaped by what our ancestors survived in America. The name Hairloom honors that legacy: the culture we carry, the looks we built, and the beauty we continue to make out of resistance. I’m grateful I was able to collab with @muddalandworldwide for some handmade pieces & @trenaebraids who hand made the star wigs. Stay tuned for more from this shoot 🤩 shot on: 07/19/2025 1/3
