Olga @treivas grew up in Russia, trained as an architect, designed museums and restaurants, collaborated with one of the oldest glassblowing factories in the country — the result was a gorgeous series of vases that sold out immediately. Then she moved to Brazil with her two sons and husband. We knew of each other while both still in Moscow but only met in real life a couple of years ago in London, both immigrants. Life works in mysterious ways! Today Olga runs @treivas.team architecture bureau from São Paulo, working at the intersection of architecture, object-making, and traditional craft techniques. Russian roots, Brazilian context — there is very little precedent for what such a combination might look like. She’s just exhibited at @sp_arte , the art fair in Brazil, and has ambitious plans — as she does. Swipe the carousel to read the full conversation and drop questions & opinions in the comments! #LanderTalks is a series where I talk to women building businesses in the cultural economy. New episode drops every Thursday.

«Stay in connection» @kseniapukk

Emma in Paraty continues my Emma series, where I translate the language of naive embroidery into furniture through controlled, deliberate carpentry. In this iteration, we work entirely with jatobá, or Brazilian cherry, grounding the pieces in a local material context while preserving the sensibility of handcraft. I compose each object with near-symmetry: the forms appear balanced at first glance but reveal slight deviations, echoing the imperfect symmetry found in nature, namely in the human face. Stunning photographs by Ruy Teixeira @ruy_teixeira @treivas.team @oficinasaojoao Special thanks to @kovalyona_ and @ferrrlima

SP–ARTE’26 Olga Treivas Booth – DesignNow 04, top floor April 8 — April 12 We are thrilled to invite you to our showcase at @sp_arte , one of Brazil’s leading art & design event. In our booth we show two series of objects, made of different materials: crystal glass and jatoba wood. The name of the exhibition ‘sol na peneira’ is a redefinition of a Brazilian saying ‘tapar o sol com a peneira’, or cover the sun with a sieve. It is used when a person makes an unsuccessful attempt to hide something they did wrong. Embracing irregularity of hand-made crafts is a way to admit one’s mistake and make imperfection the strongest feature. This approach is honest, naive and profoundly feminine: just like the pieces, eye-catching in their sincerity ♟️ @treivas.team @kovalyona_ @elenakorni @ferrrlima 💎 @cristaistavares 🌳 @oficinasaojoao

Very happy to be part of this group show, curated by @ruy_teixeira and @marina.diasteixeira , with a prototype of my Emma chest. Fio Condutor A house taken over by more than 30 women — artists and designers — where furniture and art speak as equals. Not a “female section”, but a full system: materials, voices, scales — from Lina Bo Bardi to a new generation. The curatorial line is clear: the domestic is not a limitation, but a structure of thinking and making. My piece sits exactly there — between object and presence. Opening: March 31 On view: until April 25 @apartamento61 Apartamento 61, São Paulo Part of SP-Arte week 📸 @yuripalmin
