I’m so incredibly honored to receive recognition from
@abbeyroadmpa for my music photography. Out of tens of thousands of images submitted, to be shortlisted among the top 15 for Emerging Photographer of the Year feels completely surreal.
Growing as a music photographer often feels like the odds are stacked against you with every stage and chapter requiring you to prove yourself all over again. Receiving recognition from such a panel of some of the greats is incredibly reassuring that I’m on the right path.
I truly didn’t expect to be noticed, knowing that so many established music photographers with years of stadium tours under their belts also submitted. For the panel to view me, a small artist still striving for that break, alongside those names is incredibly motivating.
This photo was taken last year during
@smallcrush nationwide fall tour in support of
@boyscottsocialmediamaniac during one of the long full day hauls. We were just about halfway on our trek from Salt Lake City to Portland, around the Oregon/ Idaho border, when Jackson and Allen had what the band coined an “hog emergency.” There was no rest stop for at least another 60 miles… so we pulled off at the nearest off-ramp to make the fastest quick stop. The natural framing of the scene from inside of the van was too good to pass up. I grabbed my little film canon sure-shot and snagged the photo.
I’ve always aimed at being a liaison in showing casing what life is like for musicians off stage and on the road. There’s something so humanizing about these experiences that I think everyone can relate to.
Thank you
@smallcrush for trusting me to capture y’all behind the scenes during the off moments of tour, and thank you for also trusting me as your Tour Manager.
Maybe this marks the start the start of a new chapter; if any of you would like to take me on tour of shoot some shows/ photoshoots, feel free to contact me!
