Sending love and gratitude to all of the artists and crews who are headed to the playa this week to amaze and inspire. We can’t wait to see what BM2018 has in store (📷 credit @oneswrightmind )
The incredible Kate Raudenbush (creator of Helios, above) needs our support to bring a very special tribute to Larry Harvey to playa this year. Her installation, titled “Passage Home”, is a beautiful series of portals aligned with the sunrise that begin in the shape of Black Rock City and slowly transform into the silhouette of Larry in his cowboy hat. Please follow the link in our bio to make a tax-deductible donation (every penny helps!) and help bring this amazing tribute to this year’s Burn ❤️🙏 (photo credit Scott London)
“One must see the Tree to believe its existence. What is its secret? How can it still be living in spite of the multitudes of camels which trample at its sides? ...The only answer is that the tree is taboo and considered as such by the caravaniers. There is a kind of superstition, a tribal order which is always respected. Each year the azalai gather round the Tree before facing the crossing of the Ténéré. The Acacia has become a living lighthouse; it is the first or the last landmark...” -Commander Michel Lesourd, describing the original Ténéré Tree in 1939 (photo by @stanclawson )
Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers, donors and team members whose hands and hearts made Tree of Ténéré possible (Photo credit @rjslifee ) #burningman
