By using "Fair Use" loopholes to train models, AI owners have effectively performed the largest heist of intellectual property in history. They have taken the collective output of the creative class and turned it into a product that competes directly against those same creators.
It is frequently the artist who speaks truth to power (think political cartoons). If the algorithm is programmed to never create art that threatens the owner's power and the pipeline of human artists has been starved of talent, who wins? Regular artists cannot earn a living and go to work in some other industry. Meanwhile, the ruling class continues to accumulate wealth and power unchecked.
