WCE x Citizen Projects Space presents Resisting Forgetfulness: The Aesthetics of Afrobeat(s).
Following WCE Studio’s WCE Hosts Lemi activation in April 2025, this exhibition extends the conversation beyond the individual to examine how the visual responses to Afrobeat(s) have collectively defined its global image.
Resisting Forgetfulness: The Aesthetics of Afrobeat(s), opening on the 20th of December, explores the enduring dialogue between African visual artists and the contemporary music scene, highlighting how painters, graphic designers, illustrators, photographers, and digital creators have shaped the visual language of one of Africa’s most influential cultural movements.
Through vibrant, genre-defying works, Lemi Ghariokwu laid the foundations of Afrobeat’s visual identity, transforming album covers into instruments of storytelling that redefined African modernity, pride, and creativity for a new generation.
A group exhibition featuring
@lemighariokwu alongside emerging and established artists.
Full public programme to follow.
