⏰ Time to lace them up again. 🏃🏼♀️
I am heading to the @cabottrailrelay in one week with the lady @windsorlancertf alumni team!
We are fundraising for @hiatushousewindsor link is in my bio to donate, all donations are greatly appreciated.
I definitely got back to running quicker than I normally would given the turn around. When I agreed to this 4 weeks seemed like plenty of time. Classic. What I forgot was the 7-10 days I would take off 🤦♀️ lol.
My first run back I actually aborted because my legs felt awful. So I gave myself another couple days off. As it turns out recovering from a marathon is not easier as you age 🤯. And the recovery process needs to be respected whether the race went your way or not.
The two weeks post marathon looked like:
5 days off, 1 aborted run, 2 days off, 4k on lever, 5k on lever, 1 day off, broken up 10k (6 on lever), 1 day off, broken up 16k.
I have been using the @levermovement to help me ease back into things. I also got a post race tune up treatment @therunnersacademy which helped as well! Highly recommend doing a POST race tune up before getting back to training.
I needed to get some running on my legs while also still letting myself recover because I am running two legs (12 & 14) in the middle of the night for a total of 34k 😳.
I am super excited to return to the Cabot trail relay. I did it back in 2015 with the angels and ran leg 4 🏔️. Excited to see two new legs… in the dark. ✨
***Also this is what I mean with bad pics. Don’t check your watch in front of Big Ben. 🤦♀️
Know where Big Ben is so you can be like the guy behind me haha.

Happy Mother’s Day!!!
The best part of my race was seeing Grayson at the end. He was so excited. Mike said he got so fired up seeing me in the race. 🥰
Bringing Grayson to the race certainly did not improve my performance. Never being able to step out of mom mode makes it hard to focus on my own race. That and the added travel logistics did add to the mental load for sure. Not to mention the party he had between 12-3am a few nights before the race 🙃.
With all of that, I am glad I brought him because I want to show him that I have goals, that are important to me. I also want to show that doing hard things is important. And showing up for the people you love when they are doing those hard things is priceless. I know he won’t remember this trip, but I will. And it’s important to me he was there.
I do not know how many more marathons I will run and it is really important to me that he witnesses it.
That being said maybe the next one will be a quick weekend trip and he can stay home lol.
Being a mom has been the greatest gift of my life. I could have seen my life without a child, but I am so glad I have one now. It is the most fulfilling and challenging thing I have ever done.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mamas out there!!!
My race was very…meh. Which is an absolute shame for such an epic race. I was quite emotional at the end, which changed quickly when I saw my amazing support crew.
I found the race incredibly crowded and chaotic. I have been spoiled in my marathon career and have only run with the masses one other time. Unfortunately I did not mentally prepare myself. Lessons learned.
I started in the first wave but it was behind the UK championship field and I was not aggressive enough in moving up in the corral. It felt like most of the race I was navigating getting around people and could never get into a steady groove. I just had to run at whatever pace was consistent with the crowd….not my own.
I understand that the vast majority of runners do all of their marathons like this and honestly… biggest kudos, running in the masses is a skill I do not possess. But just under 60,000 in a marathon seems like a few too many imo.
My headspace leading into race day was also not great, I kind of just wanted it to be over, which was weird and is not a winning mindset. I think I was a bit burnt out. I also had this looming feeling that maybe this was my last competitive marathon (no idea if this is true 🤷♀️).
My body was okay… hamstrings were not amazing, par for the course though. And calves were definitely working hard. But I do not think it was hindering me. Just not my day, which happens and all you can do is make the most out of it, which I think I did.
But aside from that….it was an amazing experience. The crowds were insane! I missed some of the landmarks mostly due to not studying the course enough. So my pics sadly are not great 👎.
After the race I met up with @crissypastorius , Kali, Mike & Grayson at the @pumarunning nitro lab and I felt so lucky to have such great supporters. There were definitely some emotions.
All in all, it was not what I was hoping for or what I trained for. But I will always be proud of getting to the start and finish line of a marathon. I kept pushing even when it was not going my way and allowed myself to pivot my goal within the race.
And of course now that it has been over a week, I’m already thinking about the next one 😂.
Appreciation post:
I cannot thank @pumarunning enough for the amazing experience that was Project 3 @londonmarathon
Obviously getting the free gear was amazing (and how 🔥 was that kit?!? 🤩). But more than that, Puma took the time to truly elevate the sub elite athletes experience.
They created a global community of regular people working towards big goals. They gave us resources to succeed (nutritionists, sport psychs, innovation talks, pro athletes).
Then on race weekend they went all out on making us feel special. A space just for us in their pop up (which was amazing). A personalized bag and warm up kit. A shakeout run with the best refuel. And professional portraits ⬆️. I have had some pretty amazing opportunities in my running career but this definitely lands at the top!
I cannot thank Luke, Mick & the whole Puma crew, it was amazing!!
Also I must thank @amy_sarah.j for working her magic and getting me there in the first place thanks to @tcsglobal . This came with the most luxurious pre race tent experience, that I am beyond grateful for. *no pics bc I didn’t have my phone.
Needless to say despite my race not going the way I wanted it to, the experience as a whole was absolutely amazing!!
THANK YOU!!!
*still more to come about my race but wanted to say thanks first!
✨London Marathon!✨
London was not exactly what I wanted. Far from it. But as soon as I realized my goal was not going to happen, I changed the goal 🤯. The goal became to run strong and take in the experience.
It sucks to have a miss, especially after training through the tough winter, but it happens… to everyone, if you do it enough. It cannot always be your best day and that is what makes those days so special. But it does not mean you cannot make the most out of it and still find something to chase.
This is for anyone who went in to a race with one goal and came out accomplishing a different goal.
YOU are the only one that gets to define what success is on the day. The goal can change throughout the race. A race is all about getting the most out of yourself on the day. And sometimes that takes some reframing and adjusting expectations. And that is okay!
And what an honour to be on the same course as such a record setting day!
🤯🤩🎉
More to come…

***times are all relative
We made it… barely! 😅
That winter training block was ROUGH!
🥶❄️☃️⛈️
I definitely hit my wits end in the last couple weeks with the weather. But we can’t change the weather.
Proud to have committed to it and got it done! ☑️ It’s been an interesting journey to my second postpartum marathon & first international one with a toddler in tow, but I love to make a challenge a bigger challenge lol! 🙃. And getting to a marathon startline is always something to be proud of!
One of my goals for this race was to take in more of the excitement around the race, which I have missed out on in past races. ☑️. And also to take in the race itself as well.
Now we get to celebrate and let the work come through! 🎉🎉🎉
So excited to run the infamous @londonmarathon . 🤩
Huge thanks to @tcsglobal for making it happen and @pumarunning for all the support with Project 3 🐈⬛😍
And of course to @torunto for the coaching & @therunnersacademy for the tune ups!
Oh and my husband for making any of this possible with a 2 year old! 🙃

Chix in 6ix: Six questions to celebrate community 💕
Definitely needed to take the inside lane to try and keep up with Coach Britt Moran @torunningchiro . She shares the challenges of returning to running post-partum and how the Toronto Running community made her Waterfront Marathon experience so special.
Love how this was filmed before @squashingmiles interview was shared - still smiling about that! Thanks for joining us Britt!

Happy international women’s day!!!
I am now 7 weeks out from @londonmarathon
It’s been a tough winter with terrible conditions but training has been going relatively well 🤷♀️. Missed some mileage last week with the stomach bug (thanks Grayson 👎) but other than that have been able to get it all in 😅😴.
Had a fun session this morning with @torunto.ca always so nice to run with people!
I am excited to keep going and hopefully having more workouts with less layers ahead!!! 🤞🙏

What a crazy week of training 🥶❄️🌨️
-43km around the upper loop at High Park 🤪
-27km on the treadmill @therunnersacademy 🔹16k of those on @levermovement
-Many frustrated kilometers on not plowed sidewalks 😳. Anyone else feel like Bambi on the snow?
-All the outdoor kms were FREEZING!
Total of 122km for the week
Embracing a rest day today! 😴
Seems very unfair to have all the snow AND the cold. Just rude imo.
But we keep showing up!!!
Anyway ready for winter to be over anytime now!
Anyone else have a tough week of training?!

✨Second postpartum marathon loading…✨
So excited to say I will be running @londonmarathon in April! Beyond grateful to @amy_sarah.j & @tcsglobal for the opportunity to take part with team TCS! 🎉🎉🎉
The last two years I have done talks to TCS Toronto ahead of @towaterfront42k . This year I mentioned I would gladly take a bib for London if they had any laying around (😂). I forgot about it of course, given the 1 million people that applied. So was incredibly surprised when @amy_sarah.j emailed me in December saying there was a bib for me 🤯! Needless to say I am beyond grateful & super excited!!!
Lets goooooo!!!
