HUGE MILESTONE TODAY... @backgroundnoisetheshow hit 3k all-time downloads 🥹😭
This is a huge deal to me. This is 3 years of labour and love sharing the good words of Canadian indie music. There's a fact out there that most people quit after their 3rd podcast episode, and I'm happy to report I'm well past that number with no signs of slowing down. I've actually lost count of how many episodes I have out!
But I want to take some time to thank everyone who has listened to my show, my parents and partner for always hyping me and my show up, and of course every artist who's taken the time put of their days to chat with me about their music.
I also want to thank the late Gord Leighton and 97.9 Valley FM for being the catalyst for this show, when I left the terrible unnamed radio station and my soul was crushed it was Gord who gave me hope and showed me the light of Community Radio. He asked me to create a show for the new station (among other things) and gave me full creative freedom with the show, and Background Noise was born. Our time together may have been short, but Gord made a HUGE impact on me and got this show on the road.
My heart and Playlists are very full.
From belting out their songs with friends in the campus radio booth, to crying to them on my way to a dead end job, TO GETTING TO PHOTOGRAPH THEM at probably one of the coolest shows ever...I still can't believe I got to shoot the @arkellsmusic this past Friday at the @starliteroom .
This show was absolutely INCREDIBLE, for being such a big band and the venue being packed they still managed to make the show feel small and intimate. From him physically going into the crowd to sing to sitting in the edge of the stage. I can see why the tour was called "Between Us".
I also loved how the first half of the show they played their new album front to back, and the second half they played their fan favourites.
What a dream show to shoot.

Unpopular opinion...when I see an unfirmilar band on a bill I DON'T listen to them before the show. Why? Because then they blow my mind 10 times more when I see them play with their raw, live energy.
After seeing @ageofashes open for @forsaken_rite last weekend I INSTANTLY became a fan. These dudes absolutely rip and I can not wait to see them live again!
For now I shall just listen to their songs on YouTube because I cannot get enough of them.

My mead horn is so full after @forsaken_rite final show. The special guests, the stories behind the songs, the swords being tossed out to the crowd, the literal battle that took place on the floor...all of it was just so fricken epic!
I feel so honored to have been asked to capture their final show, and now they will live on forever on my CD rack and my photo albums.

The horns were full and the swords were up...@forsaken_rite 's final show was an EPIC fricken battle indeed. It was bittersweet knowing it was their final show, but it was absolutely incredible!
The mead was flowing, stories were told, and so many special guests made an appearance.
Big shout out to @ageofashes for opening up the show! This was my first time seeing them and I was absolutely blown away. Can't wait to see them again!
@redcainarmy was also epic, I loved the epic fantasy metal vibe. A fantastic transition going into Forsaken Rite.

Not going to lie IM ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED that this will be their final show after I just discovered them last year and they were probably the best show I saw in 2025. But I am so incredibly honored to be asked to take photos at their final show.
YOU GOTTA GET TICKETS FOR THIS ONE...because after that they will only remain on CDs for the rest of eternity.

It was my little brother's first big show like this and boy did we ever both have a blast! He lost his shoe in the pit (we did find it after) and he was shooketh at how long the merch line was.
