Jones’s own material is imbued with the spirit of his influences, evoking a late-hours smoke filled speakeasy somehow situated in the modern day.
Winning strong support from the BBC both locally and nationally with plays on 1Xtra and Radio Merseyside, sold out shows including the Music Room at the prestigious Liverpool Philharmonic Hall underline Jones’s forward momentum.
Jones has recently collaborated with of several of the UKs greatest writer / producers, industry legends Eg White (Adele), Jonathan Quarmby (Lewis Capaldi) and Paul Staveley O’Duffy (Amy Winehouse).
Joining us for his debut Tones session, the singer played original tracks All I Do and Tough Love, concluding with a cover of soul standard At Last, made famous by the legendary Etta James.

@thelagsband - D’yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?
Originating from Liverpool, The Lags fuse melodic scouse guitar music with traditional British rock ‘n’ roll groove. The band, featuring Dan (lead vocals), Bradley (drums), Jack (bass), and Liam (lead guitar), draws inspiration from The Who, The Kinks, and The La’s.
Their name, sparked by a taxi ride conversation about Australian slang for “convict,” adds a humorous twist to their story. Known for their dynamic compositions and dramatic flair, The Lags are deeply rooted in Liverpool’s music scene, advocating for local acts like The Heavy North and The Sway amidst venue closures.
Musically diverse, Dan’s influences range from Oasis to The Stone Roses, while Jack finds inspiration in Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire. Liam draws from The Verve and John Squire of The Stone Roses, while Bradley brings a blues-rock vibe influenced by The Rolling Stones and The Who.
Looking ahead, The Lags aim to expand beyond Liverpool, with aspirations to perform at iconic venues across the UK. Their passion for storytelling and energetic live performances continues to drive their journey in the music scene, characterized by their infectious energy and commitment to their craft.
