I love working with natural light. The science behind it is so elegant. Smaller light sources make harsher shadows. The sun, because it is very far away, is a small, but very bright light source - so it makes harsh shadows. If there are clouds in the sky the sun's light illuminates through them, making the clouds the new light source, which is now very large so the shadows they cast become softer. After bouncing around on the buildings in Manhattan and sauntering in through this window, the light cast feathery soft shadows on Marisa's face.
Just eight minutes prior those photons were shooting at the fastest speed in the universe from the sun on their journey to my camera's sensor. So satisfying. We had a blast on this shoot.
