Here is our 5th writer for the Riverscribes Scratch Night on Monday 20th April Please meet Tom Rope! Tom Rope is an emerging actor and writer working at the intersection of performance, psychology and purpose. His work is rooted in years of obsessive documentation journals filled with ideas, scenes, characters and internal conflicts drawn from lived experience. His writing explores themes of masculine identity, shame and transformation through a process of embodiment drawing him to the moment before action, where identity fractures between who we are and who we want to become. ‘Intersection’ is a one man psychological drama set at a critical breaking point. Pulled in opposing directions, the mind, heart and body begin to diverge each demanding a different, irreconcilable path. As pressure builds, thoughts become voices. Voices become characters. What follows explores identity collapse, paralysis and the uneasy task of rebuilding through shame, grief and the quiet act of beginning again. This 10 minute excerpt marks the first live iteration of a larger stage and screen project in development.
