My friend and fellow boater Lynda, depicted here putting an abandoned Canadian Goose chick she had just hatched into the nest of some others. This was not so long before she ended up in hospital, with slim chances of getting out. When I visited we had a good chat, getting into her old adventures, of which there were many. She often talked of her time in Iran where she lived with her husband and baby son in Tehran and she was there in 1979 when the revolution kicked off. She said at first everything was normal, until she started getting strange calls from back home asking if they were ok. Soon, the Shah was overthrown, the famous American embassy hostage crisis was underway and people were getting locked up. So one night they abandoned all their belongings and took a train to the Turkish border where they crossed by foot. Wondering if the guards might shoot them as they passed the barren strip of no man's land. Next her travel's took her to Saudi Arabia where they lived in a sort of workers compound. One night a police raid found most of them in possession of alcohol but just as they were about to be arrested, their very good friend Two Metre Pete stood up and said "It's all mine, all the drink". He got everyone off the hook and instead went to prison himself. During this time Lynda had an office job as an assistant to a wealthy business man. He had gold taps, the office had a stream running through it, and on the floor just above them worked none other than the Bin Laden family. I met Lynda many years later when I found myself in a strange old-worldly boat yard. Here Lynda's kind and welcoming ways formed part of the charm of the place for many people. When I was with her in the hospital that day, she said "promise me this, that you will come back here at 5 o clock and get me out of this place." I said, "Ok, see you at 5 then Lynda" I couldn't say no, but I felt bad that I was actually unable to come back and break her out. She'd always been interested in my drawings, so I figured this was the best way I could get her out of there. #drawing #canalart #illustration #diy #alchemy

Welcome, back to Frutopia, the next episode. Some of you may have came down to @future_walls_gallery last year and enjoyed the first installment. Now the project has sown it's seeds and planted roots far and wide. On Thursday, Frutopian beings spawned upon the blockchain and established themselves not just as pretty pictures but as fully fledged non fungible entities which sold out very quickly. Some of you who made use of the ball machine & followed the instructions will already be proud owners of such a being. If you missed the boat though there are some for sale on the secondary market. Just a little heads up for anyone who might be interested. This one is a bit technical so no worries if this isn't for you but I thought I'd mention it cos this one's been absolutely blowing up recently. I'm running a little competition to gain access to my Frutopia whitelist, which is launching as an nft collection on Friday. A whitelist is something that basically guarantees an opportunity to buy an nft before sellout. The competition is running on twatter, under my new account @frutopianism and a Keplr crypto wallet is required, in which you will find the aforementioned stargaze address. Successful applicant's will need at least 0.5 (£2.05) of a coin called Atom (available in all crypto exchanges). The deadline is 5pm gmt tomorrow. However if you are one of the people who visited my exhibition at Future Yard and gained one of my special balls from the machine, and then followed the instructions, you will not need to do any of this.
