🤖 It’s cover reveal time, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this with you all.
We’ve two amazing editions in the works. The US cover is an incredible evolution of the original covers (both indie and US trad) for Artificial Wisdom, and the UK cover is a fabulous new technothriller cover that pairs beautifully with the forthcoming paperback.
I’ve been working on this book for years, now, and can’t wait to see this final part of the story of Marcus Tully, Livia Chandra and the rest of the team out there in the world. Here’s the blurb:
After an AI leader was elected to save the planet from environmental destruction, humanity now faces an even deadlier threat in the explosive sequel to Artificial Wisdom. Five years have passed since journalist Marcus Tully singlehandedly swung the results of a global election. To give humankind a chance of survival in a world spiraling out of control with climate change, Tully released a last-minute report that discredited Lockwood, the human candidate. Instead, humanity ceded control to Solomon, an artificial intellect—a being Tully fully believed was capable of making the tough choices that would allow humanity to survive. But then he learned just how ruthless Solomon would be in pursuit of his goals.
The world might be slowly recovering, but people are suffering—and rebelling—under Solomon’s strictures. He was far from a unanimous choice, and resentment is running high. As acts of sabotage and civil disobedience increase, a disgusted Solomon offers humanity one last choice: Upgrade or Unplug. Upgrade means irrevocably merging with artificial intelligence in order to delete the destructive nature of the species. Unplug will brick every chip, including Solomon himself, and civilization will begin again in a pre-digital age. The people of the world have days to decide before human society tips over into complete anarchy. One vote. No appeal. Individuals must be chipped to vote. A simple majority wins.
How will humanity vote this time? And how much choice do they actually have?

Will one man’s hunt for the truth collapse a crumbling world built on lies?
In 2050, investigative journalist Marcus Tully is still grieving the loss of his wife and unborn child in the deadly heatwave that struck the Persian Gulf ten years ago.
Now, the world is both burning and drowning, and the decision has been taken to elect a global leader to steer humanity through the worsening climate apocalypse. The final two candidates are ex-US president Lockwood, and Solomon, an Artificial Intelligence.
As election day races closer, Tully begins to unravel a conspiracy that goes to the highest level. Then Solomon’s creator is murdered, and Tully is pulled in to find the culprit.
As the two investigations intertwine in ways he could never have imagined and the world hurtles ever closer to the brink, Tully must find the truth, convince the world to face it and make impossible choices to secure the future of the species.
They wanted wisdom.
They got it.

One month to go until the new Artificial Wisdom UK paperback! Includes the first two chapters of Infinite Wisdom, if anyone is curious 😉 Loving the new technothriller vibe….
I keep thinking about a moment on the Saturday afternoon of Quais du Polar 2026 in Lyon.
I’m at the signing booth in the Palais de la Bourse. It’s been three days of panels and taxis and schedules in two cities. Amazing but exhausting. And then a young woman walks up a notebook with a quote from Artificial Wisdom, and asks me to sign it.
I do. We take a photo and she walks away with a smile.
That’s a memory to cherish.
You can spend years writing alone in a downstairs office in Buckinghamshire. You think nobody’s going to care. Then your wonderful publisher @verso_romans ferries you to France to promote Intelligence Criminelle, the French version of Artificial Wisdom, and puts you on a stage in the Lyon Opera House with an Interpol officer, and you’re debating whether AI will change how we solve crimes, and there are hundreds of people in the seats. And a couple of days later, someone turns up with a quote from your book. That’s pretty special.

Today I got to visit the incredible @themysteriousbookcase in Westbourne and meet Matt and Ally. So inspired by what they’ve created, a store that evokes the magic of book selling in the middle of the one of the most gorgeous Victorian arcades in the country. Hope to be back when the Artificial Wisdom paperback is out!
