🤯 A special looking old common caught during a recent filming session down the Wharf, a switch up in hookbaits making a noticeable difference that eventually lead me to catch half a dozen very special carp including 2 of the A team members well over 30lbs! I have just renewed my ticket for the Wharf for another year and although I don’t have any real plans to put a prolonged period of time into the venue it’s somewhere I get a massive buzz from every time I pull the van up into the car park, the environment, the carp and the members make it a very special place to fish.

The pick of the bunch from a recent session on the syndicate 👀, I had heard a couple of fish show down my left hand margin in the early hours and with a rod lent up against the bivvy from a bite in the night I decided to just flick the same mangled worm hookbait down in the general area, although the lead went down with a firm “donk” I knew the area had a lot of eel grass present so I wasn’t to confident that the presentation was 100% but with a worm hookbait I think the fish attack it differently so wasn’t overly worried……2 hours later all hell broke loose and this amazing looking Scaley was soon in the net engulfed in a mass of long stringy eel grass.

You know when your out with @lporter_95 and @kaicreatedthis with the @kordaofficial cameras 🎥 something special is on the horizon 👀! Just spent and epic couple of days down the Wharf trying my best to catch a couple……let’s just say this session had everything including what I firmly believe as one of, if not the best looking carp I’ve ever caught aswell as back up fish that just blew us all away, once again great company, plenty of good food and most importantly loads of laughs! I’m not sure when this film will be out but it’s gonna be mega.

Check out this Scaley one that got the ball rolling during a recent trip to Gaunts lake 😍! Arriving at a very busy lake midday Monday and after a brisk walk round I couldn’t believe my luck when one of the better pegs on the lake was free despite 9 other anglers already set up 🤯! I wasted no time in getting set up and after a few chucks with the leading rod soon found out it was very very weedy, I found one spot at range (21 wraps) but chose to fish a lot shorted than that due to the dense weed between myself and that area and not wanted to drag fish through it and risk losing them when I had no need to, I opted to go in heavy with a mix of 12mm krill, hemp, corn and a pinch of chopped worm on 2 spots and fish spinners with size 4 krank x’s on with krill dumbbell wafters as hookbaits, a busy 36 hours followed with 12 carp hooked and landed to over 40lbs including a couple of the lakes Scaley residents and one small tench that managed to wipe out the other 2 rods at a convenient time of 2am 🤦♂️!

The photo doesn’t do this carp justice atall, it was for sure the longest carp I’ve ever caught in the uk 🇬🇧 🤯 and it was the biggest over the 2 trips to manor! After getting multiple bites on the bait I noticed the odd carp showing on the left boundary of my peg so decided that rather trying to the thread the middle rod back out between the other 2 on the spot that I would just re fresh the hookbait and chuck a single towards where I had been seeing them showing, a double, 20 and low 30 from that rod within an hour and then this bad boy turned up just as I was about to reel it in and get them back on the bait for the night 💪🏼!

Manor madness 🤯…..I think there is no denying that Manor farm lake on the @linearfisheriesofficial complex now holds an insane stock of big carp, I hadn’t actually fished the venue for over a year but recently got very lucky with 2 late cancellations on consecutive weeks in the same peg, I know what your all thinking 😂 but believe me it was the case!!! Being able to bait one area and fish it over the duration of my 2 72hour sessions meant that I was able to get a spot proper rocking, and rock it did, in total I hooked and landed 25 carp to over 40lbs aswell as catching one rather large 9lb 10oz tench! Hemp, corn, plenty of whole and chopped 16mm krill active aswell as the addition of some chopped worm with small hookbaits fished on long krank spinner set ups accounting for every bite and a 100% hook to land ratio! As always the vlog camera (my phone) was on hand to capture both sessions and a super long 1hour plus vlog special will be dropping on my YT soon!!

One of the old ones 🤯…..how’s this for a special carp, one that I’m led to believe is a very ancient Wharf resident that was the best of 5 during a recent short session, one of the good things on the dock is that spotting carp during the hours of darkness is very easy and after several walks up and down the one side a very subtle show no more than 10 yards out soon gave there location away, albeit in a swim I havnt fished much before but one chuck with the leading rod I soon found out it was shallow and clear which was all I needed to know! As always the vlog camera was out and the video will be dropping very soon 👀

The life of Oakley…….absolutely loves to photobomb a catch shot, this particular carp was just over 32lbs and was caught after making a quick move onto some showing fish this afternoon, the second picture is how he likes to keep watch incase any intruders may be lurking and the 3rd photo is how he feels when he’s barked at every moving object and is confident that the parameter of the peg is safe 😂!

It has been a very busy few weeks that’s for sure 🤯 and it’s finally been nice to be able to get them going over a bed of bait! A recent session on Tar Farm lake 8 started off slowly but after an early morning move the following 24 hours was really prolific, I found an area in 17 feet of water which was just over the back of a deep 25 foot hole before it shelved up into the shallow far margin and baited heavily with hemp/corn and whole manilla, usually I wouldn’t go in as heavy with the bait in general but given the depth of water and the strong wind I wanted to make sure I had enough down on the bottom to catch the eye of any passing carp…..after multiple bites right on que the final carp of the trip was this clean big framed mid 30 mirror!!! Once again the vlog camera was out and will be dropping soon 👀!

It felt good to be back down the Wharf this week even if it was just for a night 🏴! The urban venue proper fascinates me, not just because of the amazing carp it holds but the going’s on and the surroundings your angling in, I arrived at 1am when (most) of the city was sleeping and lapped the lake a few times looking for signs, although a couple of pegs I’ve caught from in the past were free I didn’t just wanna set up in them for the sake of getting the rods out I wanted to look for signs as at this time of year fish are not always predictable! After a few laps and one subtle show I decided to throw the bed up and get a couple of hours sleep before deploying the rods at first light, one thing I’ve found fishing on the wharf is that catching the carp can be very easy but keeping them on you and making the most of the opportunities is the harder part…..luckily they stayed on me for a while and at times it was hard to keep 3 rods in the water 😉 full vlog coming soon!

The best from a recent session up on B1, a session which turned out to be a right ol trip of 2 halves! The first night I thought I was going to just camp as the wind was off my back and it was looking pretty bleak and it wasnt due to change until the following day, but like always I put 110% effort in and got everything bang on in readiness for the following morning when the wind was due to switch. As it turned out I landed multiple fish in the first 24 hours to over 36lbs and blanked the second night 🤦♂️ when I fully expected to not be able to keep a rod in the water! Fishing can be unpredictable at the best of times, but none more so than in the spring!
