At the Mental Health Without Borders – GXC International Conference, @souraya.frem , representing CDLL, presented the case of the Neighbourhood Approach, developed with @togetherlibeirut . Initially emerging organically in the aftermath of the Beirut explosion, this approach has since evolved into a structured and adaptive model responding to Lebanon’s escalating mental health needs throughout the country’s compound crises.
We raised a central question for future practice: If community-based solidarity consistently serves as a lifeline in times of crisis, can it be institutionalized as a sustainable and scalable model for Lebanon and other contexts facing similar vulnerabilities?
Honoured to join Dr. Elie Atallah, who provided critical demographic and mental health evidence, and @sohafrem , Strategy Lead at @togetherlibeirut , as together we underscored the essential role of community-driven mechanisms in strengthening resilience, social cohesion, and access to mental health support.

With the generous support of @caram.portugal , a heart ultrasound machine was installed at Saint Paul Primary Healthcare Center in Cheikh Taba, Akkar.
The new equipment will provide over 1,500 cardiac imaging tests annually, making early detection, accurate diagnosis, and better management of cardiovascular disease accessible to all.
“Empowering Youth Now” — A Turning Point for School-Based Prevention in Lebanon
Last Tuesday, under the patronage of H.E. Mrs. @haneensayed_lb , Minister of Social Affairs, and in partnership with the Oviedo Declaration, CDLL gathered over 130 policymakers, school leaders, and international experts for a landmark conference on youth prevention and mental health.
In today’s Lebanon, contextualized, school-based prevention is more urgent than ever. Speakers including MP @neematfrem , Fr. Youssef Nasr (@sgec.liban ), Prof. Sami Richa @sve.usj and Dr. Wadih Maalouf (@unodc_hq ) stressed the need for early, coordinated action rooted in school realities.
With 19 years of experience, CDLL presented its flagship #WAMH program, already supporting 50+ schools and 23,200+ students and caregivers nationwide.
Next step: a strategic roadmap built with partners to meet the real challenges schools face today.
