Del Stephen's Furtherances are playing this Friday night at the Tranzac Club in Toronto. We will be convening in the Living Room and all are welcome to attend (refer to concert poster for details, pinned to my profile + to certain local poster fixtures). Not sure if it's worth sharing this, but I find it totally strange (but not so unreasonable) to say that I've had more than 1 actual dream about the creative happenings that may go down on Friday evening - it's been such a welcome and, if you get what I mean, rather delicate(?) way to help prepare (body, mind, and so on and so what!). I guess I just don't know what to think about dreams and their influences - do you? But anyway, I'm really posting this small assortment of fotos just to gently remind you of the upcoming May 15th date. I've been feeling inspired and open to Total Possibility / new directions / and radical expansssions of select pieces I'll be bringing to the group. I hope you can make it! *Ghost Variables* and *Woolworm, Ontario* will also be performing. Very very good. Take care and be kind (...within reason) โ˜•๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŽจโœŒ๏ธ

๐ŸŽท๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿท๐Ÿ“ฐโœ‚๏ธโœจ๐ŸŽท GHOST VARIABLES / DEL STEPHEN'S FURTHERANCES / WOOLWORM, ONTARIO. On May 15th, I'll be presenting a night of creative music & experimental art in the Living Room at the Tranzac. Where do I even begin? Ghost Variables emerges from the mythic Rathskeller in Hamilton to make a rare Toronto appearance (featuring Gary Barwin, Chris Palmer, David Lee, Mike Hansen, and Connor Bennett) - they've been a real favourite of mine this past year. I'll be back in group form with Del Stephen's Furtherances, the two-horned, ten-legged, out vibrations ensemble featuring Owen Kurtz, Paul Newman, Jeff Sinibaldi, and Jamie Eriksen. And yes, we have room aboard the ship for 1 more dizzy sailor and that is Lucas Dvorsky under his Woolworm, Ontario guise, to perform an anything-goes set of new experimental works. The macchinetta is percolating! Call it whatever you want- free jazz, Earth sound, improvised, living/dying music, etc etc etc. We do hope you can make it out. Doors 7:30, Music 8:00, $10-$15 sliding scale at the door, or call 647-766-NICE to reserve seats. A l l a r e w e l c o m e ! ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŠ

THURSDAY MAY 7 MORE NOISE PLEASE! PRESENTS: CACOPHONYOUS CATACLYSM WITH: DEL STEPHEN'S GLIB TROT GLEANING - Experimental, Transatlantic, Deep-fried Dub-cassette Research Del Stephenโ€™s Glib Trot Gleaning is an ongoing sonic preservation performance project in which Del Stephen collects, studies, and brings attention to corroding found cassette tape histories via dual samplers, electric keyboard synthesizer, and other electronics. As an exploratory artist, interdisciplinary researcher, listener, and poem-maker, in live performance, Del Stephen typically blends sound, spoken word, and experimental movement, often navigating sets through open-ended structures, investigative compositions, art, and selected poetry. Del Stephen has an extensive solo discography - around 40 releases - as performer, composer, visual artist, and producer. He tends to approach the studio with experimental intent, mainly creating freely from a blank canvas, though occasionally taking older pieces in new directions, all of which can then be further explored in live concert settings. Do NOT miss this insane line -up chock full o' amazing talent including: V. VECKER - Electro Acoustic Sound Synthesis (MO) UNFEELING - Liminal Dark Ambient (NYC) THRTDSPLY - East coast Brutal Power Electronics (Moncton NB) DEPT OF LOSS - A Bathhouse Forged In Thorns EMERGENCY EUPHORIA- Violin Electroacoustic Noise Duo HUMBUCKER MUSIC - Ferromagnetic Free Improv from Nick Storring, Jason Doell, Mira Martin-Gray & Colin Cudmore DEL STEPHEN'S GLIB TROT GLEANING - Experimental, Transatlantic, Deep-fried Dub-cassette Research Sound- Responsive Visuals by MIDNIGHT BLUE BSMT 254 254 Lansdowne Avenue Doors 7 pm/Noise 8 pm $15/PWYC Poster by @houseycult Unfortunately Jania K is unable to travel & perform at this time due to illness. You may or may not have heard/dreamt/felt that DEL STEPHEN'S GLIB TROT GLEANING will be presented on May 7 at BSMT 254 in Toronto as part of CACOPHONYOUS CATACLYSM(!!!), a next-level, radically curated night of noise, music, vision, etc organized by @more_noise_please . The sounds I'll be playing are part of an ongoing sonic preservation performance project that originated about a year and a half ago while living in Portugal --- experimental, transatlantic, deep-fried dub-cassette research --- ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿธ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿ“ก --- bringing attention to corroding found histories / hints of life on tape via a travel-friendly research lab : ] . Your attendance is highly encouraged! Many many many artists/groups playing on the bill - check out the attached poster by @houseycult . t h a n k s + more exciting news on the horizon...๐ŸŽทโ˜•๐ŸŽท

'Re: minusing (s)lightly' is the direction, tone, and title of the upcoming live performance that I'm very pleased to be bringing to ST. CATHARINES in just a couple weeks as part of a new music series called Chapel Drone (poster/details in slide 2). Expect a return to the bliss'd out meditative minimalism and ambient keyboard expeditions that I have not performed live for quite some time - the generous invitation and opportunity to stretch out for this show was a very welcome one and the timing feels just right. I hope you'll join me on April 17 in listening and connecting to the sound. Adv tickets are available at eventbrite, also linked in my stories today and via @drontet_sound . And pictured in the first slide, here I am at the Ramada Inn(!) on Lake Simcoe, where I woke up in a grateful daze on my birthday and quietly reeled in another new year. A peaceful and delightfully strange way to begin. Happy springtime, look out for one another, remember to water your plants, and I hope you keep finding ways to create / express / *go on*.

A glimpse of last Tuesday. A brighter patch, you could say. I shoveled out a personal plot of light - a single sun spot, as I've called it in the past - for reading, coffee, and imagination time. At first I felt proud of my wintry accomplishment. The mayor sent her congratulations and the public institution for notable action nominated and swiftly awarded me with the prize. How could I resist being part of the hierarchy of winners (and losers)? It must've unlocked new opportunities and suddenly everything changed. Ashamed of my pride, the feeling swiftly evolved into a sense of having gained a greater understanding of who I am. Do you own an encyclopedia? How often do you update it? There is an entry for everybody and everything, if you can locate the specific volume at the specific time and specific place. Next to my name, at least in 1 of the most recent editions, you can find a couple key characteristics and a small b&w scanned photograph. There are only 2 or 3 lines; something about shoveling out plots of light and making self-fulfillment smoothies out of frozen fruit, dreams, and joy. In order to fit all of the things and all of the people in the encyclopedia, it is often a very small entry you get, so naturally it omits a lot of arguably more essential information. Readers therefore need to come up with their own conclusions in regards to all of the other ways we can begin to know a person, who they are, who and what they stand for, what they believe in. There is certainly never space for why. This particular entry, with the bit about my shoveling, and the accompanied photographic proof, does not contain nearly enough information for a person to know me well. It is, however, still enough to learn some possible truths. It is also enough for a person to come up with their own conclusions, if that happens to be the only way. It is a glimpse! And I just released a new album called Del Stephen's Today Versions - you can find it at my bandcamp page - and I am deeply grateful for your interest, listening, and support. Thank you very very much โ˜•๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ“ป๐Ÿท

WITH MY VERY OWN EYES, I LOOKED CLOSELY ONLY TO DISCOVER A NEW WINTER SPORT. A compact poem (with foto accompaniment), originally composed (and taken) in 2018 --> and now shared here today on the occasion of the Nolympics and the fresh elimination of the Italian women's hockey team ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿฅ€

DEL STEPHEN'S TODAY VERSIONS Poems, memories, improvisations, and creative action - this is it! A definitive recording & performance of who, what, how, and arguably why. This album recreationally stretches back to a '96 tape recording featuring Nonno Do and my brother Alex - a restored and remastered bridge from There to there to Here. And 1 more time, contained within, I recite ANOTHER VERSION, a poem that has become a sort of quasi-mandate for life and art - maybe I read it to hold myself accountable. There are a lot of the many things I do packed into this performance, which is partly why the record has continued to ring true to me to this day. I felt utterly me on this occasion and I feel *good* about that. It is the closest I've come to a 'self-titled' album. This music and art is for sale and I deeply appreciate any support. There is a numbered limited edition of *12* cassette tapes, with 3 oil pastel cover art print variations. We are shipping internationally and with excellent rates - I have great faith in the postal system. Side A of the cassette tape features the complete and uninterrupted performance. Side B contains a never-before-heard, faux-band version of 'sunset dreams of five oh five' (29:54), the longform-ambient-TTC 'classic' that was often performed in solo and group performances circa 2017-2019. As usual, the complete recording is also available to purchase digitally if you prefer, for 9 Canadian dollars, which is also an excellent way to lend your support. Please check it out and give it a listen sometime! You can find a link in my bio or search Del Stephen on bandcamp dot com. thank you + Peace + good travels, Del Stephen
