The Finale…
The closing chapter of my undergrad story, And peak of a journey that once began in uncertainty.
I remember when I first arrived
A stranger in a place full of unfamiliar faces, Walking into the unknown with nothing but hope in my hands.
And somehow, That very unknown has become my home.
Being First…
There’s no guidebook for it. No blueprint to follow, no footsteps to trace. Just faith And the courage to build something That will outlive your own presence.
It isn’t easy. But the uncertainty didn’t break me
It sharpened me. Gave me focus. Gave me drive. Turned doubt into direction.
And the crown… The crown is heavy.
But it was never meant to be light.
That weight It taught me. Shaped me. Showed me not just the leader I could be, But the man I truly am.
It forced me to live out loud, To stand as an example
To walk in integrity, To speak in truth, To move with transparency Even when no one was watching.
To my everlasting court
My people and my family
Thank you.
For the memories. For the laughs. For the growth we didn’t even realize was happening.
It has been an honor To serve each of you And to truly know you.
You are, without a doubt, One of the greatest parts of my time on the Hill.
So stay true. Stay grounded. Stay you.
Because every single one of you Is walking toward something great
Whether you see it yet or not.
Before I leave you, I ask you this
When you walk across that stage… When your name is called and that diploma is placed in your hands What will they remember you for?
And more importantly
Are you living a life That matches that answer?
Because time doesn’t wait. It keeps moving, Whether you’re ready or not.
It feels like just yesterday I was in Morris Hall, Standing at the beginning, Unsure of what these four years would become.
All I had Was a desire
A desire to matter. To leave something behind That was worth remembering.
So I’ll leave you with this
What is your desire?
And are you bold enough
To live a life That makes it real?
THEE FIRST
Signing Out…
Before the campus, before the crowd, I already knew what I’d claim out loud
Alpha lived in my roots, in my name, My father’s legacy from 30 years ago lit that flame.
His story shaped the man I’d be, Set the vision clear for me
Not a question, not a doubt, I thought my path was already mapped out.
Then I got to A&M…
And saw something different Not replacing, but refining, Not changing… just aligning.
DG.
The way they stepped intentional, alive, Like every move told a story they carried with pride. The way they moved through space, through air, Like purpose and presence lived within their stare.
It wasn’t foreign it felt right, Like something familiar, just brought to light. Not better than what I knew before, But deeper than I had explored.
Because what I thought I wanted
It was real. But this?
This felt realer.
More than letters. More than a name.
A brotherhood that moved like family And stood like legacy all the same.
So it wasn’t that everything changed I just saw more clearly.
V.S. aka “SECOND2NONE” signing out
Now let me take y’all back.
I was just a freshman wide-eyed, uncertain, standing at the doorway of four years with no map, no niche, no clear destination. Then an email found me. Quiet Storm. Collegiate 100. An interest meeting.
With no details, no guarantees just a feeling. Something whispered, take this step. And that step became one of the greatest decisions my younger self could’ve made.
That yes turned into purpose. That curiosity turned into leadership. And somehow, I became the youngest president in the organization’s history
a freshman entrusted to lead, to serve, to stand at the front for two years.
The lessons learned in that season laid the groundwork for blessings still unfolding. For that, I remain grateful deeply.
To the Class of 12: Man… words could never fully capture it. You were the mentors a young Maxwell needed before he even knew what to ask for. Through you, I saw reflections of my future— different paths, different stages, all helping me map my own.
Thank you for the wisdom you shared, the trust you placed in me, and the belief that leadership has no age when intention is pure.
In an organization rooted in mentoring, you taught me accountability, the meaning of brotherhood, and how to truly be a man of my word.
Lessons I still carry. Values I still stand on. Legacy I’ll always honor.

Every lesson a move, every setback a sacrifice and on today May 8th @3 PM, I say Checkmate ♟️.
When I first stepped onto this Hill, I couldn’t see the road God was quietly paving before me. Every moment, every setback, and every open door was intentional, shaping me into the man I am today. College taught me more than lessons in a classroom, it taught me who I am at my core. To every student still walking this path savor the journey. Growth lives in the in‑between. For it’s through those moments that you find out who you really are and who you are meant to be. Thank you, A&M. This isn’t goodbye rather just see you later. But this is only the beginning of my journey as when one chapter closes another reveals itself.
But before I close this chapter for good, let me invite you into the journey that brought me here.
More post to come 1/4.…

We first reported on this in April, and on September 19, history was officially made at the annual Mister and Miss Alabama A&M University Coronation.
Congratulations to Maxwell Joyner, who was crowned the first-ever Mister Alabama A&M University for the 2025–2026 academic year marking a new era for the university’s royal court.
A proud senior majoring in Plant Biotechnology, Maxwell campaigned on his platform F.I.R.S.T. (Facilitative, Influential, Resilient, Servant Leader, Trailblazer) values he has pledged to uphold throughout his reign. His mission is not only to represent his peers with dignity but also to empower the student body, uplift campus voices, and honor the legacy of Alabama A&M through purposeful leadership.
This milestone was made possible through the advocacy of former Miss Alabama A&M University 2024–2025, Faith Gatson, and her escort McKelton Johnson, who worked tirelessly to establish this groundbreaking position.
Though questions have surfaced about unofficial “Mister” roles in the past, the university has confirmed that Maxwell Joyner stands as the first official Mister Alabama A&M University in school history.
“This is a powerful step in the right direction,” said Jarrel Strong, Founder of HBCU Mister and Miss™ “By officially recognizing a Mister alongside Miss Alabama A&M, the university is not only modernizing its royal court but also expanding representation for men in student leadership. Maxwell’s election marks progress, visibility, and the beginning of a new tradition that will inspire future generations across all HBCUs.”
With his election, a new precedent has been set ensuring that male representation on royal courts is no longer the exception but part of the growing tradition across HBCUs.
