Beginning a descent into a completely unknown place.
To reach it, we had to hike fully loaded with gear, tanks, ropes, fins, weights, and more, deep through the jungle until we found a hidden cenote where we had to build pulley systems to descend approximately 15 meters down to the water.
Once below, we discovered a massive hole disappearing into the depths of the earth… a dark void that seemed endless.
I named it “Black Abyss.”
These images barely capture the true scale of the place: the enormous vertical wall on the left side, the absolute darkness, and the feeling of standing in front of something infinite.
Not even our powerful lights were able to fully illuminate the bottom.
Moments like this remind you how small we really are compared to the underworld.

I didn’t choose a normal life.

Cave - Fenómeno
Photo session at Dos Ojos on March 20th, with a group of Brazilians—we had an amazing time shooting in the cenote.
I wanted to express my gratitude for the trust you placed in me that day.
Many thanks to @dive48rivieramaya and the guides @scuba_ruben and @paulotono , and of course to my super light assistant @bymomodive for always being aware of where to position himself to get these shots.
Sometimes, without even planning it, you end up with the perfect team to make everything come out a 10.
It’s not easy to do a shoot with so many people together in the same cenote and get good photos for everyone, but with this crew, we nailed it.
