DIVING TIPS PART 6 — SIDEMOUNT TIPS WITH OUR DIVERS ⚙️
In this video, we share some useful reccomendations for your sidemount setup and accessories, together with our divers.
Our students work hard to improve their skills during our course and guided dives, and sometimes they also have something to teach me.
This is what proper sidemount diving looks like when training meets real diving scenarios. 🤿

CAVE DIVING TIPS: SECURE THE LIGHT TO THE LINE!
Don’t let it hang… do it properly!
Too many cave divers don’t have a clear idea of what to do in case of losing a teammate.
Marking the exit is the first and most important step. Let’s start with that!!! 🧵

SIMPLE SOLUTIONS REDUCE COMPLEX PROBLEMS❕
A good piece of #equipment is not the one with the most features — it’s the one that removes unnecessary risks.
When deploying an #SMB, small complications can become real distractions: jammed fingers, trapped line, poor handling under stress.
That’s why simplicity matters. Less obstruction. Less interference. More #control.
Good divers don’t just carry equipment.
They choose systems that keep working when precision matters most.

STOP CHASING PERFECT FIT💡
Equipment will change. Different suits, different thickness, different fit.
If every small variation forces you to rebuild your setup, you’re losing #time and consistency.
#Good divers don’t react to every change —
they understand the system and adjust with intent.
Sometimes the #solution is not modifying everything…
but knowing how to position what you already have.
Less tweaking. More awareness. That’s how you keep your configuration functional in real conditions. #GhostDivers #DivingTips🤿
FROM ITALY WITH #LOVE 🇮🇹
Some dive trips are just dives.
Others remind you how long a journey can really be.
I’ve known Alessandro for more than 30 years. We started swimming and freediving together as kids, long before cave diving, sidemount, or Mexico was even part of the picture.
Fourteen years ago, he came to visit me and took his first scuba breaths here in Mexico, at the dive shop where I was working at the time.
Now, after all these years, he came back to experience the cenotes with Margherita.
What impressed me was not just their diving skills, but the way they functioned as a team. Communication, awareness, mutual support — everything felt natural, intentional, and consistent.
Good divers think about themselves.
Great divers think about the team.
Margherita showed exactly that mindset: always present, always attentive, always trying to become a better and more reliable buddy.
That kind of attitude changes the entire dive.
Thank you both for the trust, the conversations, and the time underwater together. Divers like you make guiding feel easy.
Be an asset for your team, not a liability! 🤿

A TECH DIVER IS #BORN❗
Technical diving is not just about equipment, gases, or procedures. It’s about mindset.
Aurelien joined us at #Cenote @cenoteyaakun for his Advanced Nitrox Diver course, and from the beginning it was clear that he possessed the most important thing: the right attitude.
He arrived as an experienced scuba instructor with strong diving skills, but what made this course special was the way he processed information and executed every task with precision and intention.
Good students don’t just repeat exercises.
They observe, understand, adapt, and ask themselves why.
That mindset allowed us to work deeply on techniques, awareness, and decision-making throughout the #training.
@orelrhd , congratulations! Your commitment and ability to learn made this #course rewarding not only for you as a student, but also for me as an instructor.
Teaching and learning are two sides of the same coin. #GhostDivers 💀👌🏻 @orelrhd
DIVE LIKE YOU MEAN IT!
In this incredible place, the "Laguna de #KaanLuum," tech divers and freedivers meet to train in the same environment.
It looks wonderful and inviting from the surface, and then it becomes a deep, pitch-black sinkhole where the physical and mental skills are tested to the limits.
Tech #diving and #freediving are two completely different ways to explore the same environment. The risks and procedures couldn’t be further apart. It’s always a great opportunity to learn from each other.
I recommend all tech divers take a freediving course.
While my student and I were gearing up, my friend and former freediving instructor, #Pepe from @blackfinfreediving , was there teaching and filming.
Thank you Pepe for this great footage!
HERE EVERYTHING STARTED! 🫶🏻😂
#KaanLuum in #Tulum is where I taught my first tech course.
A shallow beautiful lagoon, with a massive deep sinkhole in the middle!
My student was Luca, a great friend and colleague... who showed me how to lick the #mask underwater! Thank you Luca!
And now... many years later, and many hairs less, here we are with Aurelien!
Another great #scuba instructor and good friend, taking his first step into tech diving with me!
And he already knew tha mask trick!!!
A great place, full of #memories with great people!⏱️
SMALL DETAILS CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE 💡
With a couple of tweaks, your spools will become extremely easy to handle, reducing effort and time.
We want to work comfortably and be efficient whenever we can, using our brain and manuals skills!
WORK HARD & WORK SMART

SETUP IS BUILT IN THE #DETAILS ⚠️
Sometimes the difference doesn’t come from a #big change.
It comes from a small adjustment that removes a problem you didn’t even question.
When your configuration gets crowded, everything starts competing for #space.
What seems like a minor inconvenience can turn into friction, distraction, or delay.
Good #divers don’t just add gear. They refine how everything fits and interacts.
This is how setups evolve — not from theory, but from experience shared, tested, and applied.
Simple. Effective. Intentional. That’s how you keep things #working when it matters. 🤿 @wherethefuckisalyssa
THIS IS WHERE JUDGMENT IS BUILT ❕️
Understanding a concept and processing it are two different things.
To own your #dives, you cannot just think you can do it, because you understood what you have been told.
You have to experience the consequences of your actions and your mistakes.
You learn more from yourself than from any #instructor.
Creating realistic simulations where you can experience failure, allows you learn from your errors.
You will give yourself a #feedback and embed the information forever.
Following the procedures to manage an emergency will not just be something you learned, but something you #lived!
/ #GhostDivers 💀🥽
YOUR TRAINING IS PAYING OFF!
You worked hard to improve your buoyancy and trim.
You spent years #training your breathing and propulsion techniques.
Now, in the #cenotes, you finally have the chance to test yourself in an environment where everything you learned #matters!
You can see it by #yourself, looking at your pictures, than now you are the diver you wanted to be.
BECOME YOUR #MASTERPIECE 👌🏻 @ghostdivers.insta
