The copy of Fu-On-Tou has arrived straight from Japan, and now that I have it in my hands the butterflies in my stomach buzz.
Seeing some of my work finally come to fruition brings me lot of joy but most importantly gratitude. Yoshi is close to a preliminary release and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s with great pleasure that I announce I’ll be part of the typographic zine FU-ON-TOU 2026.3 (2026.3 風音島), which will be distributed at the Mojji-Flea 2026 in Machida, Tokyo, (March 28-29th 2026). This was a very special project for me, as it marks my first published content.
The whole project was supervised and led by @kohaku.no who was kind enough to have me on board and managed a huge project containing various articles on typography and typeface specimens from many contributors - spanning across 208 pages!
Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend in person but will send the best vibes from the UK. Keep an eye on @kohaku.no Instagram page for more updates.

A project I want to give a shout out to is the collab I did with @cine_mago , a Content Creator whose admiration for Tarantino and Hollywood movies made him a cinema lover. 🎥
Here’s a quick glimpse into the brand I developed for his socials, with a brief that required a typographic solution for both the logo and video editing - from captions to shouting headlines. 💻
Await a future post with a bigger focus on the typeface that came out from this project, and go visit his instagram profile where he’s currently going through a reel run that brings together Lego bricks and, of course, movies.🍿

It’s here! My website is finally live and I couldn’t be happier. You’ll be able to find there a multitude of projects, from type families and branding projects, to small articles and a brief CV.

How do I start? STAY TUNED! Hi, I‘m kinda back!?
Very soon I’ll be finally launching a project that’s been in the works since summer last year. After a couple years of applying to different kinds of funding and competitions, which ended up feeling like a waste of time and resources, I decided to invest in the long run.
With some projects (both type and branding) tucked away in drawers and in need of development/exposure, I’ll soon be launching tipo_aurora’s website. Besides housing these ongoing and finished gigs, the website will also house the occasional brief article/blog post about things I deem worthy of sharing with the design and typography communities at large.
No, you will not be able to get my fonts there, money matters will be handled elsewhere in partnership with other professionals. The website is aimed at allowing you to just experience getting to know and exploring different perspectives on typography, printing history, graphic design, and so on. Of course if you know me or have seen my socials before, you probably know what you’re in there for.
Ps.: Please consider creating a Blue Sky account (tipo_aurora) and follow me there too. All this centralised meta business ain’t no good. Don’t count on finding me on Twitter/X either…

Another new year, another year gone by. 2025 goes away as one of the wildest years ever!
Got married, changed house twice, attended 3 type conferences in 3 different countries, built my website (to be released), played tcg like crazy, quit my part time and went into the adventure of unemployment, got another part time, wrote my first article (also to be released), got an injury and didn’t play football or table tennis for the whole year almost, and kept chasing ‘da dream’!
Above all else, unlike many others in the world right now, got the gift of spending quality time with the ones I love the most.
So many people have supported and helped me through these 365 days and I couldn’t be more grateful.
I end 2025, very eager for 2026 as I feel like many good things await next year.

Last week I had the pleasure and privilege of participating in the 15th edition of @encontrodetipografia as a speaker. Held in the city of Póvoa de Varzim, this was the very first time I was in Portugal, my home, as a type designer.
I had the pleasure of meeting and exchanging ideas with new people, some of which studied at the same faculty and department I did during my BA. The coffee was amazing, the location and venue were familiarly cosy, and the event even ended with a neat jazz performance - a first in a type conferences I attended.
A huge thank you to the organising committee, the hosts, and all the people who contributed to such an amazing event. I hope to be back next year in Portalegre.

This past weekend I attended my first typography conference as a speaker. It was one of the most thrilling experiences - from doing a long, amazing road trip, to revisiting familiar faces and friends.
As a kid, I never imagined one day I would be resorting to games and consoles I played in my childhood for research, and somehow bringing those young nostalgic feelings back to life through typography.
Best thing: feeling that the crowd was genuinely interested and pleased with Yoshi, a personal take of mine on pixel typography, both during and after the talk.
The questions allowed me to realise the aspects of the project people related to and skeptically wondered about - which will be extremely useful going forward.
Thank you for everyone for the support and kind words both in person and on social media, the fun part has just begun!
