Hi folks, Two important announcements for this year: First, registration for the 600 is now open! Link in bio and website. We are heading up to New Glasgow and back down along the Eastern Shore this year. If you’re interested in volunteering in some capacity, let me know! Yes, there will be gravel. And a ferry (or two?) Second, the Tip 2 Tip will be taking a year off. This year, the goal is to build a sustainable framework to run these events, while scouting routes for future races. This includes finding steady funding to run events, defining volunteer roles, and streamlining all the backend admin stuff. I realize some were looking forward to the T2T this year. Please know it was not an easy decision to make. Any event takes time and energy, and it’s my hope with some of that freed up space, more energy can be funnelled into curating more endurance events - on and off-road. Which leads me to my last point: if you often find yourself in the woods of NS and are knowledgeable about trails and gravel roads, please get in touch! OR, if you plan to go out into the woods to explore backroads in NS, I’d love to know where you’re going. -Ashleigh

This year, 7 riders came out to ride from The Hawk Beach to Meat Cove to ride a route crafted by 3x finisher (and sub-48hour-er), @ns.roadie . The Lighthouse Route aka. "All Tips" version for year 5 proved challenging. Possibly the most elevation of any year, with zero reprive from the sun, everyone kept on pushing and made it to the end, some with less than an hour to spare! Thanks for another year riding from one end of this beautiful province to the other. You all inspire and keep the flame alive 😊 Thanks to our partners: @priority_first_aid @naakbars @3mileoutfitters @long_alley_bicycles @bigsprucebrew @fluent_frameworks @cycling_nova_scotia Mapping by @followmychallengeusa #endurancecycling #explorenovascotia #adventure #cycling #Arkelbikebags #keepitforever #thehawk #meatcove

Here’s a tiny taste of my @tip2tip_ns 2025. It was challenging … and a couple of not insignificant mechanicals made finishing a touch and go proposition. But the kindness (and mechanical prowess) of strangers nudged me back on the right path. Finished the ride, made new friends (🙏🙏🙏 @yogis909 ) and I’m amped for next year! ❤️❤️❤️ this ride.

From @brettruskin — Very cool event starting soon. Cyclists will ride from Cape Sable Island to Meat Cove, criss-crossing Nova Scotia. ✅ They must hit checkpoints along the way (which were only announced this morning; chosen this year by @ns.roadie ), but the exact route is up to each rider. ✅ The clock doesn’t stop when you eat/sleep. ✅ No help from friends, family etc. ✅ Five day time limit. Follow @tip2tip_ns for updates and a live GPS tracking map. Race starts tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

More rolling shots from LOCOmotion 600! Such a cool experience chasing the riders (especially my silly but strong friends 👯👯‍♀️) down and deciding if I should hide more or not, from popping a chair by the road to being in ditches 🌳. I ended up with many lovely interactions and silly faces! Rachyl might’ve been the star of consistent big smiles 🫶 — swipe for some bts 🐄 🌾

Another 600 come and gone. This year, 31 people showed up to ride up-and-over Nova Scotia, to the giant lobster, along the Northumberland Shore, and back up-and-over some gravel to get back to the city. It takes a lot of preparation and courage to make it to the start line, let alone finish. Chapeau to everyone who made it to the starting line - that's 50% of the battle already won. The rest is riding your bike as far as you want to go; learning more about yourself and how you respond to situations rarely presented in day-to-day life. We got lucky with some sunny weather after a few (three) solid months of reliable weekend rain. Although no one walked away completely unscathed - an unrelenting headwind replaced rain that weekend. If the headwind wasn't enough to impact you, then heat exhaustion, stomach issues, knee problems, and crashes might have. One-third of the riders decided to end their ride somewhere along the course. Massive thank you to all the riders who choose to show up: veterans and new faces. Friends and family of the riders who support them in their efforts to show up to ride, and all the training and preparation beforehand. To the selfless volunteers who make everyone feel welcome and in good hands: Derik, Jacqueline, Jess, Adam & Chili, Katrina. Unofficial/official bike fitter for long-distance events: Adrian, who bike fit half the riders! @trailblazerphysio (Jacqueline and Jess for the party hats, sparklers, and uplifting signs at the finish). To social media commentator extraordinaire: Adam Travis (@at.hfx ). Thank you for taking on an important role: dotwatching and weaving together the storylines of riders over the weekend. To the kindest and most talented photographer and 1am burger-flipper: @baderkanawati Grateful for the continued support of our sponsors: @3mileoutfitters @naakbars @long_alley_bicycles @priority_first_aid @cycling_nova_scotia @fluent_frameworks Photos 2 & 8: @at.hfx Photos 1, 3, 4-7: @baderkanawati #t2tns #loco600 #endurancecycling #adventurecycling #explorenovascotia #rideyourbike #pedalforward #cyclingnovascotia
